NTL SOFTBALL: WYALUSING EDGES CANTON TO PUNCH TICKET TO DISTRICTS (2025-05-12)

WYALUSING — Wyalusing scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull past Canton, 4-1, in NTL softball action Monday.

The win secures the Rams a playoff spot as it’s their 10th of the season.


Addisyn Bly (2-for-3) had a double for the Rams as Rachel Wilson (1-for-3) had a double with a run scored. 


Kyla Carpenter (1-for-2) had a double with a run scored, as Josie Ferris (1-for-3) and Kylie Pickett (1-for-3) both scored, and drove in a run. 


Alaina VandeMark (1-for-3) had an RBI, with Raelea Harvey scoring a run.


Addison Fluck got the win, striking out 12 with seven hits, no walks, and one run.


For Canton Addi Pepper (2-for-3) had an RBI as Jaylee Ward (2-for-3) also had a multi-hit game. Tara Gilbert (1-for-3), Charleigh Anderson (1-for-2), and Savannah Gowin (1-for-1) also had hits as Audrey Bastion scored.


Gilbert started, going 5 1/3-innings with four strikeouts, five hits, and four runs. Ward went the final two-thirds with one strikeout.


The Rams took the lead in the second as Carpenter reached, then scored on a VandeMark hit to make it 1-0.


Canton got a run across in the fifth as Bastion was hit by a pitch. Two batters later Pepper drove her in with a hit to make it 1-1.


Then came Wyalusing’s big inning as Millard reached on an error, with Harvey coming in to run for her. Wilson then singled to put two runners. 


Ferris then turned a bunt single into three bases as Harvey and Wilson scored. Pickett then drove in Ferris for the 4-1 final.


Wyalusing (10-8) travels to Montgomery Wednesday with a 4:30 p.m. start, as Canton (3-14) welcomes Athens.
