
It’s District IV Championship time for track and field with the best in the districts - and state - duke it out down at Williamsport Area High School on Thursday and Saturday.
THURSDAY SCHEDULE
Field events start at 3:30 p.m. with the track firing off at 4 p.m.
The first field events: Class AA Boys (Long Jump , Javelin), Class AA Girls (Discus), Class AAA Boys (Triple Jump, Pole Vault), Class AAA Girls (Shot Put).
The following field events: Class AA Boys (Shot Put), Class AA Girls (Long Jump), Class AAA Boys (High Jump, Discus), Class AAA Girls (Pole Vault, Triple Jump).
The Track events start off with the 4x800 at 4 p.m. as they go in this order: Class AA Girls, Class AAA Girls, Class AA Boys, Class AAA Boys.
The 100 dash preliminaries will be at 5:15 p.m. with the same order. They will be followed by the 100 hurdle preliminaries at 5:30 p.m., and the 110 hurdle preliminaries at 5:45 p.m.
The final event will be the 3200 final beginning at 6:15 p.m., with the same order as the 4x800.
In the boys’ 100 area athletes to watch as Troy’s Ben Warburton (11.16, 5th seed), and Sayre’s Marco Quiros (11.26, 7th seed).
The top seed is Hughesville’ Spencer Stine (10.98).
In the boys’ 110 hurdles Wyalusing’s James Rogan (15.82, 6th seed) is seeded in the top 10, along with Wellsboro’s Micah Vickery (16.19, 10th). Lewisburg’s Haneef Shavers is the top seed at 14.51.
In the 3200 Canton’s Lawrence Halbfoerster (9:50.93, sixth seed) and Wellsboro’s Max Macias (9:59.18, 10th seed) are ones to watch. The top seed is Lewisburg’s Jonathan Hess in 9:12.13.
In Class AAA boys Athens’s Graham Wanck (9:53.72) is the second seed, behind Shikellamy’s Sam Hennett (9:29.75).
In the Class AAA high jump Athens’ Jace Babcock (6-feet, 4-inches) is the fourth seed, with Williamsport’s Brayden Ungard (6-feet, 5-inches) the top seed.
In the long jump Warburton (22-feet, 9 3/4-inches, 2nd seed) and teammate Joseph Frye (20-feet, 7 1/2-inches, 7th seed) are the two NTL seeds in the top 10. The top seed is South Williamsport’s Dylan Scheller (23-feet, 1/2-inch).
The shot put is crowded at the top with six throwers over 50-feet this year. The state standard is 49-feet, 6-inches.
Towanda’s Varrius Farrell (52-feet, 5-inches) is seeded third with Troy’s Avery Sens (51-feet, 2 1/2-inches) sixth. Lewisburg Jacob Gose (55-feet, 9 1/2-inches) is the top seed.
In the 4x800 relay NP-Mansfield (8:26.63) is seeded third while NEB (8:36.27) is seeded fifth. Hughesville (8:08.60) is the top seed.
On the girls’ side Wellsboro’s Piper Hoprich (12.29, 2nd seed) and Williamso’s Jade Colwell (12.94, 8th seed) are in the top 10. Central Columbia’s Kendra Stout (12.18) is the top seed.
For Class AAA Athens’ Abby Burgess (12.22) is the top seed.
In the Class AA 100 hurdles Sayre’s Rose Shikanga (15.93, 3rd seed), and Troy’s Kylee Roy (16.75, 9th seed) are in the top 10.
Bloomsburg’s Camden Wasielewski (15.58) is the top seed.
In Class AAA Athens’ Lizzie Gorsline (17.11, 6th seed) is near the top with Williamsport’s Aubrey Philips-Cobb (14.74) the top seed.
Wellsboro’s Lauren Kosek (10:59.18, 2nd seed) and NEB’s Gracelyn Laudermilch (11:20.34, 3rd seed) are the top NTL seeds, with Williamson’s Natalie Yonker (12:00.78, 5th seed) also in the top 10.
Lewisburg’s Baylee Espinoza (10:49.94) is the top seed.
In the Class AAA race Athens’ Sara Bronson (11:31.99) is the third seed with Williamsport’s Madeline Sanders (10:09.82) the top seed.
In the Class AAA high jump Athens’ Evelyn Panek (5-feet) is the second seed with Williamsport’s Isabelle Morrow (5-feet, 4-inches) the top seed.
Williamson’s Madalynn Bailey (17-feet, 1/2-inch) is the second seed in the long jump with Wellsboro’s Annika Gehman (15-feet, 10 3/4-inches) 10th. Northwest’s Julia Hasinus (17-feet, 3-inches) is the top seed.
In the discus Canton’s Alexis McRoberts (120-feet, 6-inches) is the second seed behind Mt. Carmel’s Liv Kopitsky (128-feet, 1-inch).
Also in the top 10 from the NTL are Wyalusing’s Gabrielle Palfreyman (105-feet, 3-inches, 5th seed) and NEB’s Cora Franklin (103-feet, 2 1/2-inches, 6th seed).
In the 4x800 Towanda (10:00.27) is seeded third with Warrior Run (9:35.40) the top seed.
SATURDAY SCHEDULE
The first events open at 9:30 a.m. with the track to go off at 10 a.m.
For the field the morning events are: Class AA Boys (Triple Jump, Discus), Class AA Girls (Javelin, Pole Vault), Class AAA Boys (Long Jump, Shot put).
The afternoon field events will go off at 12:30 p.m.: Class AA Boys (High Jump, Pole Vault), Class AA Girls (Triple Jump, Shot Put), Class AAA Boys (Javelin), Class AAA Girls (Long Jump, Discus).
The track events are: 100/110 hurdles (10 a.m.), 100 meter dash (10:20), 1600 (10:30), 4x400 relay (11:15).
There will be a break, with the 400 going off at 12:30 p.m. That will be followed by the 300 hurdles (1:15), the 800 (1:45), and the 200 (2:30).
There will be another break with the meet concluding at 3:30 p.m. with the 4x400 relay.
NTL runners to watch in the boys’ 200 are Troy’s Ben Warburton (22.59, 3rd seed), and Sayre’s Marco Quiros (22.72, 4th seed). East Juniata’s Cody Nipple (22.38) is the top seed.
In the 400 are Sayre’s Marco Quiros (50.51, 5th seed), and NP-Mansfield freshman Sudan Benner (51.92, 10th seed). EJ’s Cody Nipple is the top seed at 49.46.
Troy’s Evan Geer (2:00.65, 5th seed) and NEB’s Creed Dewing (2:01.69, 7th seed) are in the top 10 for the 800, with Lewisburg’s Jonathan Hess (1:56.03) as the top seed.
Canton’s Lawrence Halbfoerster (4:32.80, 6th seed), NEB’s Creed Dewing (4:33.31, 8th seed), and Wellsboro’s Max Macias (4:35.64, 9th seed) are the ones to watch in the 1600. Lewisburg’s Jonathan Hess (4:17.02) is the top seed.
In Class AAA Athens’ Graham Wanck (4:24.31, 2nd) is right behind top seed Sam Hennett of Shikellamy (4:21.62) in the 1600.
Wyalusing’s Dylan Johns (6-feet, 6-inches) is the top seed in the high jump, one of six NTL jumpers in the top 10.
Troy’s Kendrick (6-feet, 5-inches, 3rd seed), NPM’s Luke Kreger (6-feet, 3-inches, 4th seed), Troy’s Cameron Morey (6-feet, 3-inches, 5th seed), Wellsboro’s David Seeling (6-feet, 2-inches, 6th seed), NPM’s Tayton Strange (6-feet, 1-inch, 8th seed), and NPM’s Colton Pellett (6-feet, 10th seed) are also seeded high.
Williamson’s Aiden O’Neil (14-feet, 6-inches, 2nd seed) is the only NTL vaulter in the top 10, with Danville’s Gavin Holcombe (15-feet, 3-inches) the top seed.
In the triple jump Troy’s Cameron Morey (42-feet, 1-inch, 7th seed), and Wyalusing’s Zibiah Walton (41-feet, 1-inch, 9th seed) are in the top 10. South Williamsport’s Dylan Scheller (45-feet, 2 1/4-inches) is the top seed.
In the discus Towanda’s Varrius Farrell (148-feet, 11-inches, 3rd seed) is the only NTL thrower in the top 10. Danville’s Troy Raup (169-feet, 9-inches) is the top seed.
On the girls’ side Wellsboro’s Piper Hoprich (25.46, 3rd seed) and Williamson’s Jade Colwell (26.96, 10th seed) are in the top 10 in the 200. Central Columbia’s Kendra Stout (24.79) is the top seed.
In Class AAA Athens’ Abby Burgess (25.75) is the third seed, with Shik’s Jilly Deivert (25.43) the top seed. Burgess (59.56, 4th seed) is also high in the 400, with Williamsport’s Geiani Whaley (56.72) as the top seed.
In the 800 NEB’s Gracelyn Laudermilch (2:21.43, 3rd seed), Towanda’s Izzy Larson (2:23, 4th seed), Williamson’s Madalynn Bailey (2:23.18, 5th seed), and Towanda’s Mary-Kate Eberlin (2:24.91, 9th seed) are all in the top 10. Lewisburg’s Baylee Espinoza (2:15.80) is the top seed.
In Class AAA Athens’ Sara Bronson (2:20.76, 2nd seed) is right behind Shik’s Lauryn Ross (2:19.96) in the 800.
NEB’s Gracelyn Laudermilch (5:06.33, 2nd seed) leads the NTL contingent, with Wellsboro’s Lauren Kosek (5:15.11, 4th seed), Williamson’s Natalie Yonker (5:27.38, 5th seed), Towanda’s Izzy Larson (5:33, 6th seed), and Black Knight Mary-Kate Eberlin (5:37.44, 10th seed) are also in the top 10.
Lewisburg’s Baylee Espinoza (4:54.79) is the top seed.
In Class AAA Athens’ Sara Bronson (5:15.15, 2nd seed) is behind top seed, Williamsport’s Isabelle Sanders (5:03.62).
Wellsboro’s Annika Gehman (5-feet, 9th seed) is the only NTL jumper in the top 10 for the high jump. Northwest’s Jordin Bowman (5-feet, 4-inches) is the top seed.
Canton’s Kendall Kitchen (11-feet, 2nd seed), Towanda’s Marin Maynard (9-feet, 6-inches, 5th seed), and Troy’s Alyssa Parks (9-feet, 6-inches, 6th seed) are in the top 10.
Montoursville’s Kendall Sims (11-feet, 6-inches) is the top seed.
Wellsboro’s Annika Gehman (33-feet, 8 1/2-inches, 10th seed) is the only NTL jumper in the top 10 for the triple jump. Milton’s Elizabeth Schrock (36-feet, 1/2-inch) is the top seed.
Towanda’s Brynn Woodruff (140-feet, 5-inches, 2nd seed) is the only NTL thrower in the top 10 of the javelin. Lewisburg’s Teagan Osunde (144-feet, 10 1/2-inches) is the top seed
Williamson’s Olivia Meisner (39-feet, 4-inches, 2nd seed) leads the NTL contingent in the shot put, with Canton’s Alexis McRoberts (34-feet, 8-inches, 4th seed), and Wyalusing’s Gabrielle Palfreyman (34-feet, 4-inches, 5th seed) also in the top 10.
Mt. Carmel’s Liv Kopitsky (39-feet, 7 1/4-inches) is the top seed.
Wellsboro’s 4x100 (51.21, 7th seed) and Williamson’s 4x100 (51.78, 8th seed) are the top two NTL teams in the 400 meter relay. Lewisburg (48.90) is the top seed.
NEB’s 4x400 (4:19.76, 8th seed) is the highest NTL team in the 1600 meter relay. Central Columbia (3:58.89) is the top seed.
Troy’s Alyssa Parks (46.97, 4th seed) is the lone NTL runner in the top 10 for the 300 hurdles. Hughesville’s Kylie Temple (44.32) is the top seed.
The top two of each event in Class AA go to states, while only the Class AAA champion gets an automatic bid. Any athlete that finishes in the top eight, and hits the state qualifying mark, will also earn a state bid.
