
WESTFIELD — Troy’s bats stayed hot as they rolled to a 19-2 win over CV in four innings during NTL softball action Wednesday.
The Trojans jumped out to a 9-2 first inning lead, then tacked on five more runs in each of the third and fourth innings.
Troy had 14 hits in the game as Kali Ayres (2-for-4) had a home run, a double, 5-RBI, and two runs scored, with Amber James (2-for-4) hitting a double with 3-RBI, and a run scored.
Marlee Stanton (2-for-4) had a double, with three runs scored, and an RBI, with Haidyn Watson (2-for-2) hitting a double with two runs scored, and 2-RBI.
Lauren Ridall (2-for-3) scored four runs while driving one in, Madi Palmer (2-for-3) had two runs scored, and 2-RBI.
Olivia Champluvier (2-for-3) scored twice, and had an RBI with Erinn Knapp, Lauren Reed, and Sydney Bellows all crossing home.
Knapp struck out five in the win, with two walks, one hit, and two earned runs.
In the top of the first Ridall led off with a walk, followed by Knapp getting hit by a pitch two batters later.
Bellows came in to run for Knapp, followed by Palmer driving both of them in for a 2-0 lead.
After Reed was hit by a pitch James singled in Palmer for a 3-0 ball game. Reed then scored on a Stanton fielder’s choice for another run.
Champluvier kept the rally going with a 2-run single that scored James and Stanton for a 6-0 lead. Watson made it 7-0 with a hit that scored Champluvier.
After a fielder’s choice for a second out Ayres hit a 2-run home run to make it 9-0.
In the third Stanton led off with a double, followed by Champluvier reaching on a single. Watson then doubled in Stanton for a 10-2 score.
Ridall would single in Champluvier, followed by Ayres doubling in Watson and Ridall for a 13-2 ball game.
After an out Ayres would score on a wild pitch to make it 14-2.
In the fourth Stanton led off with a hit, followed by Watson reaching on a hit by pitch two batters later. Ridall loaded the bases with a single.
Ayres hit a sacrifice fly to score Stanton for a second out with the score 15-2.
An error off the bat of Knapp brought in Watson and Ridall for a 17-2 ball game. Palmer singled to keep the rally going, followed by Bellows drawing a walk.
That set up James’ 2-run double for a 19-2 final.
Troy (12-5) hosts Towanda on Thursday with a 4:30 p.m. start.
