The first day of the District IV Track and Field Championships kick-off today while there are a few crucial games on the diamond.
TRACK & FIELD
District IV Championships at Williamsport, 3:30 p.m.: Field events at 3:30 p.m. with track starting at 4 p.m. Some key things going on today are the 4x800, the 3200, the Class AA boys’ shot put and long jump, along with the the Class AA girls’ discus and long jump.
BASEBALL
Towanda (11-7) at Sayre (2-15), 4:30 p.m.: The regular season finale for the Knights. They’re holding onto the fifth spot by a thread, so a win here would go a long ways towards keeping that seed. A fifth seed likely means NP-Mansfield in the first round, a loss could mean Troy.
SOFTBALL
Wyalusing (10-8) at Montgomery (13-2), 4:30 p.m.: A win by the Rams will likely keep them in the fourth place spot in the district standings, and help them keep a home district game. A loss could mean a trip to Line Mountain next week.
Towanda (10-5) at Troy (12-5), 4:30 p.m.: Troy is solidly into the third seed for Class AA districts, while a strong finish for Towanda in their final three games could see them still get a top four seed in the Class AAA playoffs.
