Northern Tier Sports Report
MONTGOMERY — After falling down 5-1 in the first Wyalusing rallied back for an 11-6 win over Montgomery in non-league softball action Thursday.

Both teams scored a run in the second, with the Rams getting another in the third for a 6-3 game. Wyalusing then had two in the fourth, followed by two in the fifth to take a 7-6 lead.

A 4-run sixth gave the Rams cushion for the final two innings.

“After a rough first inning the girls settled down well,” said Wyalusing coach Brett Jayne. “Rachel Wilson, Addison Fluck, Josie Ferris, and Treanna Nickeson all hit the ball real well tonight, which was good. Hopefully it gives us a little momentum going into the North Penn-Liberty game Friday.”

Leadoff batter Addisyn Bly had to leave after one at bat due to illness.

“I hate to give up her bat, but the other girls stepped up to the plate, and did real well,” Jayne said. “I’m very proud of the way they clawed their way back a little bit at a time to put up some nice numbers. We did some nice base running, and played very good defense. Emily Johns made some nice catches in right field.”

Rachel Wilson (4-for-4) had a triple, three runs scored, and an RBI as Josie Ferris (3-for-4) scored twice.

Treanna Nickeson (2-for-5) had a triple with a run scored, and 2-RBI, while Addison Fluck (2-for-3) had two doubles.

Emily Johns (2-for-4) scored twice with an RBI, as Addisyn Bly (1-for-1) also scored. Kylie Pickett (1-for-3) had a hit with Raelea Harvey crossing home twice as Fluck’s courtesy runner.

Fluck struck out four in the win, allowing 10 hits, three walks, and six runs.

In the first Bly led off with a single then scored on a Wilson hit for the 1-0 lead.

In the second Fluck had a double, with her courtesy runner Harvey scoring on a dropped third strike for their second run.

In the third Wilson hit a 2-out triple then scored on an error off the bat of Ferris to make it 6-3.

Fluck doubled again in the fourth with Harvey scoring on a Johns single. Johns later scored on a 2-out triple by Nickeson to make it a 1-run game.

Wilson and Ferris had back to back hits to start the fifth. Wilson would score on a bunt from Pickett to knot the game up at 6-all.

Carpenter then brought in Ferris with a ground out to put the Rams up one.

In the big sixth inning Johns led off with a single, then reached second on a bunt.

She scored on a Nickeson double. After an out Nickeson would score on a passed ball.

Wilson and Ferris kept things going with back to back hits. They would both score on an error off the bat of Pickett for the 11-6 final.

Wyalusing (11-8) finishes out the regular season as they host NP-Liberty on Friday with a 4:30 p.m. start.
