It was another strong season from Troy baseball in 2025 as they continued their strong string seasons recently.
“We finished the season 16-6 lost in the AAA semis to Mt. Carmel who has one of the best pitchers around - we are knocking on the door to the state tournament and just need to keep working to get there,” said Troy coach Lyle Wesneski. “We have great kids and a great staff so future is very bright. We let a couple of games get away from us but that is baseball you just got to rebound and show up the next day.”
Troy opened with a 12-2 win over Wellsboro, then fell to eventual league champions Athens (14-4). That was followed by a 15-2 win over Wyalusing, then another loss to NP-Mansfield (6-4).
That was followed by four straight wins: Williamson (11-0), Towanda (12-0), Canton (12-2), and District IV, Class AA champions South Williamsport (6-3).
They suffered two close losses at the Shamokin tournament to district finalist Hughesville (11-9) and Shamokin (8-7).
That was followed by three straight wins as they beat Wellsboro (14-7), got revenge on Athens (8-4), and topped Wyalusing (13-3).
They had another close loss to NP-Mansfield (15-14), but ended the year on a five game win streak: St. John Neumann (7-2), Towanda (11-5), Canton (11-5), Sayre (10-0), and eventual District IV, Class A champions CV (15-1).
They got an exciting walk-off win over Towanda in the district playoff opener, but then fell to eventual District IV champions Mt. Carmel.
Reed Palmer (.441) led the team at the plate with 27-RBI, 27 runs scored, seven doubles, and two home runs.
Not far behind was Brendan Gilliland (.440) with 31-RBI, 30 runs scored, four doubles, four triples, and three home runs.

Rookie Evan Woodward (.317) scored 18 times with 11-RBI, as Logunn Heasley had 12-RBI, and 12 runs scored.
As a team they had 105 stolen bases, led by 22 from Gilliland.

Frank Harper added 21 2/3-innings with 18 strikeouts.
The team says good-bye to a very talented senior class but Palmer, Gilliland, Smith, Teribury, and Heasley return to form the core of next season’s team.
“Overall very good year and going to miss our seniors as they move on to their next chapter - they have done a lot for our program,” said Wesneski.
