Northern Tier Sports ReportWYALUSING — RTL held off Canton 5-3 in District 15 Little League Minors Softball quarterfinal action Wednesday.
Canton jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first, and that stuck until the fourth when RTL rallied for three runs. They scored two more in the fifth to make it 5-2.
Canton got the rally caps on in the sixth, getting one run back, but weren’t able to get over the hump.
Stella Shedden (1-for-2) had a double, 2-RBI, and a run scored for RTL as Madelyn Sweeley (1-for-2), Aubri Brown (1-for-3), Illeana Putney (1-for-2), and Arabella Doty all scored.
Hadley Adams (1-for-1) drove in a run as Mollee Warner (1-for-3) also had a hit.
Warner struck out eight in the win.
For Canton Dylilah Westbrook (2-for-2) had 2-RBI, as Leah Ross (2-for-3) scored twice and had an RBI.
Charlotte Driscoll (1-for-3), Angel Young (1-for-2), Katy Fitzwater (1-for-3), Lakelyn Gleckner (1-for-2), and Addy Sharrow (1-for-2) all had hits.
Parker Hoover scored a run, as well.
Lydia Jennings went the first three innings with six strikeouts, while Ross went the final two innings with two strikeouts.
RTL travels to Southern Tioga on Friday in the semifinals. Canton hosts Tunkhannock on Friday in the consolation round.
