
ATHENS — NEBall battled Athens tough, but ultimately fell 21-13 in District 15 Little League Minors Baseball action Friday.
Athens jumped out to a 5-2 first inning lead, then scored four more in the second to take a 9-2 advantage.
NEBall battled back with five runs in the third to make it a 2-run game.
Athens out scored NEBall 2-1in the fourth, but a NEBall run in the fifth made it 11-9 going into the final frame.
Athens would push 10 runs across in the sixth to pull away, with NEBall scoring four in the bottom half for the 21-13 final.
Fisher K (2-for-4) had a triple, 2-RBI, and a run scored for NEBall, as Quaid Martin (1-for-2) had a double, 3-RBI, and two runs scored.
Blake S (1-for-3) had a triple, an RBI, with a run scored, while Everett E (1-for-3) had 2-RBI, with a run scored.
Lane A (1-for-1) scored three times, as Jaxson W (1-for-3) and Cole W both scored twice. Dylan E also crossed home.
Blake started, and went 1 1/3-innings with two strikeouts, as Martin tossed 1 1/3-innings to strikeout two.
Fisher went 2 1/3-innings, striking out one, followed by Cole pitching one-third of an inning. Everett E fanned one in two-thirds of an inning.
