WYALUSING — Wyalusing girls’ soccer kept rolling on Thursday as they beat NEB 9-0 during NTL action.
The win moves the Rams to 4-0 to start the year as they get ready to play their fifth game in eight days on Saturday.
“I think you could see when our goals started to come - we had to wake up a little bit - but then once we got in the groove it was nice to see a lot of different girls scoring,” said Ram coach Katie Fischer.
Vayda Rought had four goals while Makenzie Kintner finished with three goals and two assists.
Addisyn Bly had a goal with two assists, as Carol Scarborough and Lia Fischer both scored, as well.
Wyalusing had a 20-6 edge in shots and 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Callie Warner had six saves to get the clean sheet for the Rams, while Maggie Chappel finished with 11 saves for the Panthers.
Wyalusing had chances early but seemed to kick it every where but the back of the net.
Rought punched one over the cross-bar, while a long shot from Sierra Gromley hit the post.
Alysha Botts then had back to back runs into the box that ended up just wide.
The Rams finally broke through at the 24:10 mark when Rought drew a foul just outside the 18. Bly hit the direct kick into the far corner and it was 1-0 Wyalusing.
Eight minutes later Kintner got an NEB turnover and had a 30-yard blast into the net for a 2-0 lead.
Rought then added her second goal at 13:34, followed by Fischer scoring off a Kintner direct kick with 8:14 on the clock for the 4-0 lead at the half.
Just over two minutes into the second half Bly found Rought to make it 5-0, then Rought scored as she got the rebound off a Bly shot for a 6-0 lead.
An NEB own goal made it 7-0 with 31:22 left in the game.
The chances kept coming for the Rams but the young Panther keeper found her feet, making several big saves - including two back to back point blank shots.
Rought would get her final goal with 9:31 left to play, followed by Scarborough scoring with four seconds on the clock for the 9-0 final.
NEB has some time off while the Rams get right back to it on Saturday as they travel to Elk Lake.
“The girls have put in a lot of hard work, which is proving to them what the hard work does,” Fischer said about the team’s fast start. “We have told them that next week is tough. It’s going to be tougher, and so we need to be happy with our wins, but we also have a job to continue to do, so we’re not going to stay in this moment - we’re going to move on to what’s next.”
