Northern Tier Sports ReportCANTON — Canton fell to South Williamsport 31-14 during NTL football action Friday.
The Warriors led 7-0 after the first quarter, but struggled to move the ball with only three rushing yards total. The Mounties ran for 271 yards and out gained Canton 412-120 on the day.
Rylan Wesneski was 7t-for-13 for 79 yards with a touchdown as Ryder Route hauled in three catches for 37 yards and a score.
Bailey Gardner had three catches for 24 yards while running 14 times for 11 yards and a touchdown.
Canton struck first four minutes into the game as Wesneski hit Route for a 20-yard strike. Alexis McRoberts’ point after made it 7-0.
South then scored 31 straight points through the end of the third quarter.
Gardner punched one in from a yard out in the fourth for Canton’s other touchdown. McRoberts added the point after for the 31-14 final.
Cade Lusk ran for 155 yards on 20 carries for a score to lead South while Garrett Lorson had 113 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 16 touches.
Cole Gerber was 9-for-14 for 139 yards with a touchdown as Levi Butler hauled in five catches for 77 yards and a score.
Canton travels to Athens Friday.
