Northern Tier Sports ReportROME — NEB had their best performance of the season so far as they beat Williamson, 4-1, during NTL boys’ soccer action Tuesday.
“Big win for the boys against a top notch team,” said NEB coach Scott Merritt. “We played great defense and transitioned very well. It took us a bit to get going and keep control, but once we did we stayed off our final third of the field for the majority of the time.”
Tyler Kuhn and Brody Allen had two goals each with Kuhn also getting an assist. Landon Chapman also had an assist.
Benjamin Bower had the Williamson goal.
“Some outstanding backfield play from our people and a big day for Tyler Kuhn and Brody Allen,” Merritt said. “A lot of attack support came from the back field and mids. Dan Barrett had a great day defensively, and moving the ball offensively. Ed (Eastman) roamed the while field playing both ways, Anthony Pousen and Landon Chapman had big days with great touches and ball control.”
Gavin Puza had six saves in net for the Panthers, who out shot Williamson 16-6 on the day. Brayden Barker had 11 saves for the Warriors.
“Williamson did do a great job of cluttering up the lanes, and their keeper made some great saves to keep us from scoring,” Merritt said.
NEB (4-1) will host Troy on Thursday.
