Northern Tier Sports ReportATHENS — The NEB boys varsity cross-country team split with Athens and Sullivan County during NTL dual meet action Tuesday.
The Panthers won 23-34 over the Wildcats, but were nipped 27-29 by the Griffins. Sullivan also beat Athens 25-31.
NEB’s Jackson Martin (17:54) won the race, holding off Athens’ Jacob Shores (18:10).
Russell Martin (19:20) was sixth, Levi Dewing (20:10) came in ninth, Xavier Lockwood (20:10) was 10th, and Josiah Russell (20:44) finished 11th.
For the girls a short-handed NEB team fell to Athens (23-38) and Sullivan County (15-21), with the Griffins beating Athens (26-31).
NEB’s Sophie Bennett (23:09) was third overall with Ruth Laudermilch (23:46) taking fifth. Rylie Lanson (34:28) finished 16th.
Athens’ Alissa Vough (21:46) and Sullivan’s Zoey Reese (22:25) went 1-2.
In junior high girls’ action NEB’s Julia Laudermilch (11:45) won the race though NEB lost to Athens (16-20) and Sullivan (26-31).
For the boys’ NEB’s Jessie Dewing (11:17) was third overall though the Panthers did beat Athens (15-50) but fell to Sullivan (25-34).
