GALETON — NEB rolled past Galeton 7-1 during NTL boys’ soccer action Tuesday.
“We came out of the gate firing on all cylinders,” said coach Scott Merritt. “We were first to the ball, had good touches and passes, and we’re communicating well.”
Tyler Kuhn had a hat trick and two assists to lead the Panthers, while Brody Allen finished with two goals. Anthony Pousen and Ed Eastman each had goals, as well.
Dayton Russell, Ben Ellis, Pousen, and Landon Chapman each had assists.
“But it wasn’t a run and gun ball game, every goal came off a multi-pass and direction change attack,” Merritt said. “The back four, led by Eli (Stanton), played phenomenal. Our outside backs pressed up and got involved in the offense, mid-field transitioned well, and nobody was stuck on a track - very creative movement by all.”
Kuhn scored goals less than four and seven minutes into the contest to make it 2-0 NEB quickly.
Allen then scored with 24:52 on the clock, followed by Pousen getting a goal. Just before the half Kuhn got the hat trick for a 5-0 lead at the break.
Galeton scored on a direct kick to make it 5-1, but goals by Allen (21:13) and Eastman (7:02) made it a 6-goal difference by the end of the game.
NEB had a 28-6 edge in shots and 8-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Gavin Puza made five saves for the Panthers.
