NTL BOYS' SOCCER: TROY TAKES WELLSBORO TO 2OT IN LOSS (2025-09-12)

WELLSBORO — Troy took the defending league champions, Wellsboro, to the brink, falling 3-2 in overtime during NTL boys’ soccer action Thursday.

“We as Troy’s coaches have known that the team that stood toe to toe with Wellsboro tonight was bound to come out, and now they are out and ready for the rest of the season,” said Troy coach Dane Seeley.

Patrick Fitzsimmons and Ethan Hoffman had the two Trojan goals as Fitzsimmons and Landon Lee each had an assist.

It was 1-1 at the half, and 2-2 after regulation, with the Hornets pushing one through in the second overtime.

Jonathan Carl had two Wellsboro goals, including the winner with 1:14 left to play. 

The Hornets out shot them 21-5, and had a 13-1 edge in corner kicks.

Trojan keeper Timothy Hornung made 31 saves on the night.
