A very unique week with very little on Monday and Wednesday, but plenty of action to make up for it on Tuesday and Thursday this week. With cavalcades on Wednesday some contests got moved, while there are 13 events on Tuesday that feature area teams.
FOOTBALL
Wyalusing (1-4) at Troy (4-1), 7 p.m.: The Trojans rolled to a win over Towanda last week while Wyalusing took a loss at South Williamsport.
Towanda (0-5) at Canton (1-4), 7 p.m.: Both teams had tough losses last week as the Knights are still searching for their first win, while the Warriors look to rebound after a loss to Montgomery.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
Tuesday, September 23
Athens (4-3) at Wyalusing (6-5), 4 p.m.: It’s a been a rough go of it for the Rams as of late. A tough schedule has seen them lose five straight and things don’t get any easier with Athens coming to town.
Troy (9-1) at Williamson (6-5), 4 p.m.: The Trojans sit on top of the District IV, Class AA standings as they enter an important week of the season. The Warriors are coming off a big 4-3 win over Wellsboro.
Wellsboro (6-4) at NEB (1-9), 4 p.m.: The Panthers played Wellsboro tough over at their place, falling 2-0. The Hornets are coming off a 4-3 loss to Williamson.
NP-Mansfield (3-5) at Towanda (2-6), 6 p.m.: The Knights will be looking to break a 3-match losing streak, and get some revenge as NPM beat them 5-1 the first time. The Tigers are 3-3 since their 0-2 start.
Thursday, September 25
NEB (1-9) at NP-Mansfield (3-5), 4 p.m.: The Tigers won the first match-up 5-1 over at Panther Lane.
Williamson (6-5) at Wyalusing (6-5), 4 p.m.: A key match-up for both teams as they battle for playoff positioning. The Warriors won the first meeting 3-2.
Troy (9-1) at Athens (4-3), 5:30 p.m.: Troy won the first meeting 2-0 as Athens comes into the week on a 2-match winning streak.
Wellsboro (6-4) at Towanda (2-6), 6 p.m.: The Hornets eked out a 1-0 win in their first meeting over in Wellsboro.
Saturday, September 27
Troy (9-1) at Shikellamy (10-0), 11 a.m.: The Trojans stunned Shik at home last year so the undefeated Braves will have plenty of motivation going into this contest.
NEB (1-9) at Warrior Run (9-1-1), 11 a.m.: The Panthers head south to take on one of the best programs in the state. The Defenders recently beat Towanda 11-1.
BOYS’ SOCCER
Monday, September 22
South Williamsport (2-10) at NEB (6-4), 4:30 p.m.: The Panthers are coming off a 2-1 loss to 9-win Millville while South is on a 4-match losing streak.
Towanda (2-7) at Montgomery (5-4), 4:30 p.m.: The Knights will be looking to break a 5-match losing streak while the Red Raiders have won three of their last four.
Wednesday, September 24
Troy (0-11) at Galeton (3-7), 5:30 p.m.: The Tigers used four second half goals to beat Troy in their first meeting 6-2.
Thursday, September 25
Towanda (2-7) at NEB (6-4), 4 p.m.: NEB won the first meeting 7-0 in Towanda.
Saturday, September 27
Galeton (3-7) at Towanda (2-7), 1 p.m.: The Tigers come into the week winners of two straight as Towanda won the first meeting 2-1.
NEB (6-4) at Troy (0-11), 1 p.m.: The first meeting between the two teams. NEB will be looking to break a 3-match losing streak coming into the week while the Trojans are looking for their first win.
VOLLEYBALL
Tuesday, September 23
Montoursville (3-4) at Troy (5-2), 7 p.m.: The Trojans will be looking to pick up the non-league win as they claw their way back up the district standings.
Wellsboro (6-2) at Towanda (5-4), 7 p.m.: The Black Knights are coming off a tough loss to Troy while the Hornets defeated Troy last week.
Canton (4-4) at Williamson (6-1), 7 p.m.: Canton is coming off a tough 3-2 loss to Sayre while Williamson has won five straight.
Sayre (4-3) at NEB (0-7), 7 p.m.: Sayre is coming off a big win over Canton to take first place in the District IV, Class A standings. NEB is searching for their first win.
Wyalusing (6-2) at CV (1-6), 7 p.m.: The Rams are coming off a tough loss to Williamson has they head back west. The Indians have lost four straight.
Thursday, September 25
Canton (4-4) at Wyalusing (6-2), 7 p.m.: It’s been nearly 15 years since the Rams have beaten Canton as both teams battle for playoff positioning.
NEB (0-7) at CV (1-6), 7 p.m.: The Panthers make the long trip out west to take on the Indians in a Small School tilt.
Towanda (5-4) at Mountain View, 7 p.m.: The Knights go East to take on the District II, Class A champion from a year ago.
Troy (5-2) at Athens (1-7), 7 p.m.: The Trojans beat Athens in four in their first meeting.
CROSS-COUNTRY
Tuesday, September 23
Canton at NEB, 4:30 p.m.: An important Small School Divisional match-up as the Panthers are coming off a loss to Towanda while Canton recently fell to Sullivan County.
CV, Sullivan County at Troy, 4:30 p.m.: An important one for the Griffins as they hunt for the league title. NEB edged out Troy a couple weeks ago at Mt. Pisgah as the Griffins hope they can do the same.
Towanda, Wyalusing at Wellsboro, 4:30 p.m.: A very talented race on the girls’ side with Wellsboro’s Lauren Kosek, and Towanda’s duo of Maris Cobb and Izzy Larson.
Saturday, September 27
Wyalusing, Towanda, Canton at Bloomsburg Invitational: The NEPA Invite is one of the premier races in the region. Danville, Hughesville, and Lewisburg will all be there.
Troy, NEB at McQuaid Invitational: One of the top invitationals on the East Coast, the two teams will face-off with some of the best competition in New York and neighboring regions, including Canada.
GOLF
Tuesday, September 23
Wyalusing at Eagles Mere, 2 p.m.: The Rams will face Sullivan County as they get in some non-league action before individual qualifiers the following week.
Wednesday, September 24
Towanda at White Deer, 2 p.m.: The Black Knights get some time on the district course before team districts next week.
