Canton’s Lawrence Halbfoerster has been on fire this cross-country season. He’s undefeated in NTL dual meets, and this past weekend he was top 10 at the PIAA Foundation Race.
“I knew it was going to be pretty solid just because of my track season, and the success I had there,” Halbfoerster said about coming into his senior season.
Down at Foundation Halbfoerster ran 17:10.2, which would have been good enough to finish in the top 20 at last year’s Class A state race.
“It’s super exciting,” Halbfoerster remarked. “I am super excited to here that I could possibly get a state medal, and having that title of a state medalist would be pretty awesome.”
They’ve been doing two speed workouts a week, mixed in with long runs and recovery runs after races to get that fast.
He has the Bloomsburg Invitational coming up on Saturday, which might be a stronger field than down at PIAA Foundation.
“I would like to run a new PR, and hopefully medal there, too,” said Halbfoerster.
