Northern Tier Sports ReportEAST TROY — NEB used a strong first half to top Troy, 5-2, during NTL boys’ soccer action Saturday.
Tyler Kuhn had four goals for the Panthers as Landon Chapman added the other score. Daniel Barrett had three assists with two by Anthony Pousen.
Patrick Fitzsimmons had the two Troy goals with Ethan Hoffman and Landon Jenkins each getting an assist.
“The ball control and passing was great all day,” said NEB coach Scott Merritt. “Many passes per attack and moving it all around the field. Big days in assists from Dan Barrett and Anthony Pousen as well as the shot selection from Tyler today was on target. Landon Chapman gets his very first varsity goal. The Troy boys made some different runs and adjustments in the second half. And the Troy goalie Tim Hornung made some spectacular saves to stop some other great attacks.”
Kuhn opened the scoring a minute apart in the first half off assists from Barrett.
NEB then added two goals in the final three minutes of the first half with Kuhn scoring off a Pousen helper, then Chapman scored off a Barrett assist.
Early in the second half Kuhn got his fourth goal off a Pousen assist.
Troy then went on the attack as Fitzsimmons had back to back goals off assists from Hoffman and Jenkins.
NEB out shot Troy 20-7 and a 10-1 edge in corner kicks.
Hornung finished with 15 saves in net while Gavin Puza made four saves.
