Northern Tier Sports ReportROME — Tyler Kuhn’s four goals leads NEB past Towanda, 6-1, during NTL boys’ soccer action Monday.
“Tyler Kuhn has another game of scoring,” said NEB coach Scott Merritt. “Great ball control and passes led to a lot of very nice attacks. Eli (Stanton) made some very good runs and ended with a goal and an assist. Dan Barrett was on the attack all game, had some fantastic finishes taken away by Blaiz Nichols, and still had a great game with a goal and an assist. Anthony Pousen turned in two assists; Ed Eastman had a fantastic touch and played a wonderful ball onto Tyler to get himself an assist on the night. Tyler Kuhn more than did his part putting away four goals and the assist on Eli’s goal.”
NEB’s first goal came less than 10 minutes in as Kuhn scored off a Pousen assist.
Then with 18:44 left in the half Stanton scored off Kuhn’s assist.
In the second half Barrett opened up the scoring just under three minutes in with a goal off a Stanton helper.
Towanda cut it to 3-1 as Josh Maye scored with 21:13 left to play.
In the final 14 minutes Kuhn scored three times, the first off an Eastman assist, the second off a Barrett helper, and the third unassisted.
NEB out shot Towanda 11-7 and had a 9-2 edge in corner kicks.
Gavin Puza made six saves for NEB while Nichols stopped five shots for Towanda.
“Thankfully, most mis-adjustments or good attacks on Towanda’s part were contained by Puza in the goal,” Merritt said.
Both teams are in action on Wednesday with NEB traveling to Williamson while Towanda is at Athens.
