TOWANDA — Towanda boys’ soccer used a first half blitz to top Troy on senior night, 4-1, during NTL action Thursday.
“It feels really good,” said Towanda coach Tom Lambert. “They worked hard today with good communication.”
Ben Shrawder returned to score two goals for the Knights as Josh Maye and Harper Welles each had a goal. Brayden Spencer, Dalton Johnson, Blayke Spencer, and Brady Hennessy each had assists.
It’s an offensive outburst Lambert has been waiting for all season.
“It’s tough to watch because I know what they could do, and then watch how the year went,” he said. “But I was happy with today.”
Landon Jenkins scored on an Aaron Prouty assist for Troy.
After the flurry of first half goals the second half went scoreless, though the Trojans had their chances to cut into the lead. A penalty kick went wide, while another shot bounced off the far post.
Blaiz Nichols had 14 saves for the Knights while Troy’s Timothy Hornung made 17 saves.
Hornung earned his 750th career save during the game.
