ROME — Sullivan County’s Zoey Reese appears to be peaking at the right time as last year’s state qualifier took third overall at the NTL Coaches’ Invitational Saturday.
Reese (20:34) passed Towanda’s Izzy Larson (20:41.1) to bring home the bronze.
“I felt really good,” said Reese. “My arms were really heavy, but it was a really good race. I wasn’t really sure what to expect, but I was expecting to at least come home with some hardware, but I was really shocked with third place.”
The Griffins didn’t have a full team but placed three in the top 16 as Paige Jordan (22:13.7) was 14th, and Adilynn Thibodeault (22:48.4) came in 16th.
Emily Guare (25:36.6) was 28th.
The boys were fourth as a team with 106 points, led by Carter Blasi (18:03.7) in 11th.
Calen Sweigart (18:19.2) was 14th, Chase Preston (18:20.2) came in 15th, Isaiah Botsford (19:02.6) was 30th, and Brayden Fitzgerald (19:41.7) took 37th.
