Northern Tier Sports Report
ROME — NEB cross-country had two runners in the top 10 at the NTL Coaches’ Invitational on Saturday.

On the girls’ side Sophie Bennett (2:05.9) was seventh to lead the Panthers (88), who took fifth overall.

Ruth Laudermilch (21:38.7) was ninth, Clara Dewing (26:25.4) took 32nd, Eli Mihalik (26:28) was 33rd, and Riley Lamson (29:31.4) came in 38th.

“It was really hard but the competition was really good,” Bennett said. “I’m really proud of everybody, including my teammates.”

Bennett just missed states a year ago and hopes a race like this will help her get there this year.

“I know whose going to be ahead of me at districts, and I’m just going to try to stick with them at districts, and push myself,” she said.

Jackson Martin (17:12.3) led the boys with a sixth place finish as the Panthers (93) took third as a team.

Levi Dewing (18:11.3) was 13th, Xavier Lockwood (18:35.8) came in 19th, Keagan Netherton (18;55) was 26th, and Josiah Russell (19:00.8) finished 29th.
