
TOWANDA — Towanda volleyball got a much needed win on Tuesday as they edged their rivals, Wyalusing 3-1, during their Pink Game.
“I’m super proud of this group and what they did,” said Towanda coach Cassie Smith. “I don’t have a lot of works for it other than they battled, they did their job, and they fought very proudly.”
The Rams won the first set 25-21, but Towanda rallied for a 25-14 win in the second set.
The Knights pulled out a crucial 25-23 third set win, then took the match with a 25-21 fourth set victory.
“These last couple of weeks they’ve done a really nice job of making adjustments when we’re asking them to make adjustments,” Smith remarked. “We’re working them super hard in the gym, so when they came back in that second set after going down in that first one I changed things up a little bit, and they rolled with it. They attacked, they did their job, they made the adjustments that we asked this week and that’s really all I could ask for.”
Karis Flynn had 30 assists, 10 points, 11 digs, two aces, four kills, and four blocks for Towanda as Brooklyn Evans notched 17 kills, two blocks, 14 digs, 12 points, and an ace.
Lariah Long had eight kills, 24 digs, seven points, and an ace with Brynsen Vagason getting 27 digs, four points, and an ace.
Kylee Barnes had four kills, four blocks, and a dig as Kendall Kellogg had five kills, four points, and a dig.
Addy Barrett had five kills with a block, as Alayna Rankin notched two kills, three digs, one assist, and a block.
Caedence Wells had 13 points, an ace, and nine digs, as well.
For Wyalusing Josie Ferris had 30 assists and 29 digs with Kirra Millard getting 27 digs, one ace, two kills, and an assist.
Emily Johns had nine kills, 13 digs, three blocks, and an ace, with Avery Carr adding nine kills, two digs, and an ace.
Addison Fluck had three kills, four blocks, two digs, and two assists, as Madalyn Broschart notched eight kills, six blocks, and three digs.
Jalynn Herda had seven kills, seven blocks, seven digs, and three aces while SaEva Manahan had 12 digs, Isabel McKeon added 11 digs, and Abbie Tuttle finished with six digs.
Emily Johns had nine kills, 13 digs, three blocks, and an ace, with Avery Carr adding nine kills, two digs, and an ace.

In the first set Wyalusing scored 10 straight points to break things open, 22-12, then held off a Towanda rally.
In the second set it was Towanda using a five straight points to take control as they rolled to the win.
The Rams led most of the third set, but Towanda rallied to knot things up at 20-all. From there they out scored Wyalusing 5-3 for the win.
They took a lead in the fourth set and held it to get the match.
Towanda won the JV match 25-18, 25-12, as Ali Hollett had nine assists, four digs, and one point while Sadie Overpeck notched nine digs, eight assists, three kills, and four points.
Molly Roberts had five digs, one kill, two points, and an ace with Emma Space getting seven kills, six points, three aces, one block, and a dig.
Samantha Hartigan had seven digs, as Kellogg notched 12 points, six aces, and five kills.
Barrett had four kills, six points, and an ace, with London Decker getting two kills, and a dig.
Paige Buchanan and Lennon Rice had two digs apiece.
Towanda improves to 8-9 with the win as they have three matches left. They need to win two of them to ensure a playoff berth, or they could get some help from teams with .500 records but a lower rating.
Wyalusing falls to 9-6 with five matches left as they look to punch their ticket to districts.
