NTL GIRLS' SOCCER: TROY READY TO TAKE ON MIDD-WEST IN D4 CLASS AA QUARTERS (2025-10-21)
BY CHRIS MANNINGNorthern Tier Sports ReportLast year Troy girls’ soccer set a milestone as they reached the District IV semifinals for the first time in program history, this year they’d like to push that further along but first they have to face Midd-West with a 6 p.m. start Thursday night at Balls Mills.
Midd-West beat NP-Mansfield 3-0 in the opening round of the playoffs.
“When our season began our goals were to win the NTL and make a run in the playoffs,” said Troy coach Wayne Pratt. “The girls are staying on course with those goals. They also know that in order to obtain our other goals we must stay focused and continue to work hard to stay competitive.”
They have some history with Midd-West, who knocked them out of districts two years ago at home during a play-in game. Several of those players are still on this team, including key players Saydi Renzo, Giana Renzi, Kylee Roy, and Alexis McRoberts.
“The team has been working as on since back in August,” Pratt said. “The drive and attention to detail has been top priority. Our seniors and captains Kylee, Saydi, Jaylee (Ward), and Alexis have held themselves accountable in making sure the team was ready for every game.”
They’re also looking to sure up touches, and keep their passing crisp, since it’ll be nearly two weeks off from their last game.
“We will continue to work on ball touches and working on formations,” remarked Pratt. “I trust the team will push each other and prepare for whatever team we end up facing. It’s the post season, every team is there because they earned it - we need to be mentally and physically prepared.”
