BLOOMSBURG — Troy’s Frank Harper knew he needed to make something happen to try and make it to Hershey out of the always competitive District IV, Class AA race Thursday. The senior got as high as 18th, but ultimately finished in 25th, just outside the cut.

“I was really proud of him,” said Troy coach Curtis Miller.. “Frank’s been one of our top runners for the past four years. He’s been running with us for six years, and he knew that coming into today that he would have to do something pretty special. I think he just went out a little fast in his first mile, and then just wasn’t able to hold that spot throughout the race, but I couldn’t be more proud of him for the effort he put in today.”

Harper (17:42.4) led the Trojans to a seventh place team finish with 200 places.

RJ Bellinger (18:02.8) was 31st, Owen Campbell (18:43) came in 48th, Ben Osgood (18:59.1) took 54th, and Mason Wulff (19:06.8) finished 62nd.

“It’s really good experience,” Miller said about his younger runners. “I’m excited to see RJ Bellinger continue to get better and better, and looking for him to take on more of a leadership role next year as well, and bring long those younger kids with him. The biggest thing for us is just keeping that tight pack, and we’ve got to put the work in in the offseason, and I think we’re excited to do that.”

In the girls’ Class A race Sheridan Wilcox (26:36) was 21st for Troy as Kalynn Keltz (26:43.8) came in 23rd.

Charlotte Kafka (30:06.3) took 30th, and Sara VanNoy (36:28.6) finished 33rd.
