COLLEGE: AREA WRESTLERS READY TO HIT THE MATS AT THE NEXT LEVEL (2025-10-31)

It’s that time of year again…While the high school and college football season is still giving the fans something to cheer for. The beginning of the college wrestling season is here. Action officially starts on November 1. Our area has a handful of athletes competing at all levels of college wrestling. 
    
There are athletes at the Division I level in Sheldon Seymour (Troy)  Lehigh University, is preseason ranked 5th by Intermat wrestling, CJ Carr (Wyalusing), and Kade Sottolano (Williamson) at Lock Haven University, Mason Higley (Towanda), and Kaden Setzer (Athens) at Kent State University, and Colton Wade (Sullivan County) is at Clarion University. At the Division II level, Brayden Pequignot (NPL) and Riley Walker (NPL) are both at Millersville University.  At the Division III level, Gavin Bradley (Athens) is preseason ranked 8th by Inermat wrestling at Castleton University, and Nick Woodruff (Wyalusing) is ranked at Penn College. 
    
Kicking things off, Sheldon Seymour will be wrestling at the NWCA All-Star Classic in a rematch with Eddie Ventresca from Virginia Tech on November 1 at Rutgers University. Lock Haven is scheduled to send athletes to the Princeton Open. Where Castleton is set to send athletes to the Lycoming Invitational. Penn College is set to be at the Tonee Ellis Memorial Tournament. Millersville will be sending wrestlers to the Pioneer Open. Lastly, Clarion hosts the Clarion Open. 
    
A lot of the wrestling action can be followed on Flo Wrestling and ESPN+. Looks to be a busy year for our area with college wrestling. Check back for updates throughout the season on our local wrestlers.
