Wellsboro junior Lauren Kosek earned a bronze medal at the PIAA Cross-Country Championships, and Troy senior Mason Smith led the Trojans to a big win over Wellsboro in the District 4 football playoffs. They are The Sports Reports / Ziff Law Firm Regional "Athletes of the Week," for the week ending Nov. 1.

WELLSBORO'S KOSEK NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRM REGIONAL GIRLS 'ATHLETE OF THE WEEK'

Kosek finished third in the Class AA Championships, clocking in with a time of 18:45.0.

Kosek was the lone non-senior finisher in the top-4 in Class AA.

Honorable Mentions: Troy's Izzy Renzi (soccer), Sayre's Rylee Lantz (volleyball), Athens' Meg Wiles (volleyball), Newark Valley's Hadley Merrill (cross country), and Corning's Karina Swarthout.

TROY'S SMITH NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRM REGIONAL GIRLS 'ATHLETE OF THE WEEK'
Smith scored four TDs to lead defending state champion Troy to a 49-8 win over Wellsboro in the District 4, Class AA quarterfinals.

Smith ran for 155 yards on 10 carries, scoring on runs of 36, 24, 56, 23 yards.

He also completed 4 of 8 passes for 55 yards
