NTL GIRLS' SOCCER: WYALUSING KEEPS SUCCESS GOING IN 2025 (November 11, 2025)
BY CHRIS MANNINGNorthern Tier Sports ReportWyalusing girls’ soccer didn’t miss a beat as they broke in a new coach in Katie Fischer, while also making their sixth straight playoff berth.
“It was a great inaugural season for me as head coach of the Lady Rams,” Fischer said. “The consistency of Mario Alvarez staying on as assistant coach was really helpful to keeping the program heading in the right direction and securing that district playoff spot.”
The Rams started strong and finished strong while hitting a bit of a mid-season slump as they finished 10-8 on the year.
They went 6-0 to start the season, first by winning the Meadowbrook tournament with victories over CMVT (6-0) and Meadowbrook (5-1).
They followed that up with win over NPM (2-1), NEB (9-0), Elk Lake (4-1), and Towanda (4-1).
Then came the slump as they went on a six match skid, though all their losses were to playoff teams, with four of their losses by one goal, falling to Williamson (3-2), Athens twice (2-1, 2-1), and Wellsboro (2-1).
They would go 4-2 to end the season, ending the skid with a win over Williamson (5-2) and holding on to beat NEB (2-1).
They followed that up with losses to Wellsboro (2-1) and Troy (4-2), but then pulled out a win over Sullivan County (3-0) and getting a forfeit win over Millersburg to punch their ticket to districts.
In their district opener they fell to Line Mountain 3-0.
Vayda Rought and Addisyn Bly led the team in scoring, with Rought on her cutting attacks while Bly was one of the best long distance marksmen in the NTL.
Their defense was led by Treanna Nickeson and Ellie Adams, with freshman Lia Fischer, and Alysha Botts running the midfield.
Fellow freshman Jenna Morningstar proved to be a scorer up front with Callee Warner taking over the reigns in goal.
Emily Fowler, Aleta O’Connor, Ava King, Sierra Gromsley, Mya King, Carol Scarborough, and Storey Newell all chipped in.
They say good-bye to some talented seniors, especially Bly and Nickeson, but have a good nucleus coming back.
“I will miss our seniors, but know that they left a lasting imprint on their teammates for what it looks like to be good leaders, hard workers, and good teammates,” Fischer said. “The girls showed a lot of potential and heart, and I am excited to see what the future of the program holds.”
