NTL VOLLEYBALL: TROY HAS BANNER RAISING SEASON (November 13, 2025)

It was a banner raising for Troy in more than one way in 2025 as they repeated as NTL Large School champions, while also claiming their first district title since 2014.

“At the beginning of this season, I was a little nervous,” said Troy coach Abby Herman-Deitrick. “We had some big shoes to fill, and I was worried we'd have some gaps. Boy, was I wrong. This group of girls stepped up, and exceeded last year's outcome.”

The Trojans went 18-2 during the regular season, opening with three straight wins over Williamson (3-0), Athens (3-1), and Towanda (3-1).

They followed that with a loss to Williamsport (3-2), but came back with a win over Canton (3-0). Then came their only league loss, falling at Wellsboro (3-1).

That was followed by 14 straight regular season wins as they rebounded to hold off Towanda (3-2), then they topped Montoursville (3-1) and Athens (3-1).

That was followed by a pair of sweeps over playoff teams, NPL (3-0) and Loyalsock (3-0), then came two four set wins as they beat Canton (3-1) and Sayre (3-1).

They swept Wyalusing (3-0), then pulled out two key league wins over NPL (3-1) and Wellsboro (3-2) to put themselves in the driver’s seat for the league title.

They swept Selinsgrove (3-0), then beat NEB (3-0) and CV (3-0) to clinch the league championship.

They extended their win streak to 17 with three more district wins, beating Towanda (3-0), NPL (3-1), and Loyalsock (3-1) to claim the Class AA title.

Their season ended with a 3-1 loss at Holy Redeemer.

“Aryana Andrus and Brenna Jackson are two players who have consistently worked together in the on and off season for four years,” Herman-Deitrick said. “Their talent, coachability, and overall communication level with each other is what I think helped push this team to get where we ended this season.”

Andrus came up just short of 1,000 career kills, finishing with 408 on the season, to go with 90 blocks, and 106 points.

Jackson had 629 assists, 212 digs, and 156 points on the year.

“As for the rest of the starting line-up, they wanted to work hard for each other to do the best they could this year,” Herman-Deitrick said. “Amber Jo White also had another season as a great leader on and off the court. She had so many big plays for us when it mattered most. All Bailey had a great season once again as the libero. She was the structure we needed in the back line the whole season. This year with replacing a middle, Bella Wood stepped up to the occasion. She did a great job filling big shoes and was able to find holes when we needed her to.”

Bailey had 386 digs, 243 points, and 60 aces, as White finished with 26 blocks, and Wood had 72 kills

“The girls that impressed me the most are the underclassmen,” Herman-Deitrick said. “Haidyn Watson was our most consistent server, and a major part of leading this team. Last year playing only in the back row, Haidyn helped lead the back line. She stepped up to become the power hitter her team needed her to be this season and showed what a big impact she can already make as a sophomore. Liana Lyon started the season off in a 6-2 with Brenna that then shifted to a 5-1. Liana was a crucial part of our serving game and did a great job as a freshman on the varsity court. Alexa Lawrence is another freshman who stepped in as an all-around player. There were so many moments when she had the chance to flourish this season and she did. She had great defense, having the second greatest number of digs on the team next to the libero.”

Watson finished with 188 kills, 313 points, 92 aces, and 231 digs with Lyon getting 208 points, 129 digs, 121 assists, and 62 aces. Lawrence added 97 kills, 238 digs, 173 points, and 46 aces.

“This group has worked hard and will continue to work hard in the off season,” Herman-Deitrick said. “I am proud of all the work they put in this summer to get to the level we did. Each one of them was dedicated to attending anything I asked for all summer, and season long, and their hard work paid off. “

They have some big shoes to fill as Andrus, Jackson, and White all graduate, but Herman-Deitrick feels they have the right culture in place to keep things going in 2026.

“We had big shoes to fill last year but it seems like we will have even bigger ones to fill next year,” she said. “I know either way these girls have worked hard for each other to get this program where it is and will continue to work to hold on to their titles. I am proud of each girl on this team and their work for each other, not for themself.”
