NTL GIRLS' SOCCER: TROY HAS HISTORIC 2025 SEASON (November 16, 2025)
BY CHRIS MANNINGNorthern Tier Sports ReportThe Troy girls’ soccer team couldn’t have asked for a better season than they had in 2025, as they made school history as the first team in program history to earn a state berth.
They went 17-4 on the year with two losses coming to district champions and state semifinalists. This was their first time making a district final, along with making the state tournament, and their sixth straight NTL title.
Saydi Renzo became just the second player in program history to earn 50 goals and 50 assists, while Alexis McRoberts joined the 50 goals club early this year.
“The seniors lost one game in the NTL in their four years, that being their first game as freshmen to NEB,” said Troy coach Wayne Pratt. “Our goals were lofty at the beginning of the season. Hard work, grit, and focus allowed us to accomplish 95-percent of them. Our upper classmen led the entire season by example, the way they brought our younger players up was incredible.”
The Trojans opened the year on a 5-game win streak, beating Towanda (6-2), Williamson (4-1), Montoursville (5-1), Wellsboro (5-2), and Wyalusing (2-0).
They fell in a tough one at Muncy (3-1), who won the Class A district title, before winning the next six games in a row: Athens (2-0), NEB (8-0), NPM (6-0), Loyalsock (7-0), Williamson (12-1), and Athens (5-2).
They would fall at Shikellamy (7-1) after that, then claimed the next four games: Towanda (5-0), NEB (6-1), Jersey Shore (7-0), and Wyalusing (4-2).
They ended the season against Abington Height, falling 7-1.
In district play they rolled past Midd-West (5-0) in the quarter, then got the big one against Hughesville (1-0) in the semifinals, avenging a loss from last year.
In the finals they fell to state power Central Columbia (2-0), then finished the season with a loss at defending state champions, Northwestern Lehigh (6-1).
“We reached out to our alumni to come back and help us towards the end of the season,” Pratt said. “The alum gave us speed, knowledge, and confidence to progress to levels we had not been to before. They showed a winning tradition that they forged as they came thru the program. The season gave us so much to thankful - memories, friendships, strong opponents throughout the league, and the overwhelming support of our communities. Our team was a close team this year, we bonded early, and that bond is what carried us through the season. Not everyone got on the field every game, however, it was everyone that pushed each other run practices that prepared us fall the games. A team effort was our strength.”
The Trojans say good-bye to two once-in-a-generation type players in McRoberts and Renzo, along with Kylee Roy, whose been a starting for three years.
They do bring back Giana Renzi, who’ll look to join the 50 goals club next season, along with her sister, keeper Izzy Renzi.
On defense Jaylee Ward and Mallory Chamberlain both return, while in the midfield Kyah Renzo will be back. They’ll also look towards Raelyn Woodward, Parker Lee, Stella Rockwell, Zyra Hughson, and Hailey Grove to pick up bigger roles.
“Looking forward to next year we lose three incredible seniors,” Pratt said. “Their leadership will be with us for years to come. We bring in some stellar freshmen to join our ranks. The remaining members will now become our leaders with a hunger to get back to the state tournament.”
