NTL TRACK & FIELD: WYALUSING BOYS EDGED BY WILLIAMSON IN SEASON OPENER (2021-04-09)

WYALUSING — In their season opener the Wyalusing boys were edged by Williamson 75.5-73.5 in NTL track and field action Friday.

The Rams had the edge in hurdles (12-5), throws (22-5) and jumps (20-16), while winning two of the three relays. However, Williamson got big points in the sprints (25-2) and distance events (19-8).


Grady Cobb (5-feet, 8-inches) won the high jump with teammate Nolan Oswald (5-feet, 2-inches) third. Oswald (37-feet, 6 1/2-inches) won the triple jump and took third in the long jump at 18-feet, 4-inches.


Wyalusing went 1-2 in the pole vault with Alex Boyd (8-feet, 2-inches) and Alex Hunsinger (8-feet, 1-inches) as Brian Arnold (12.7) was third in the 100. Arnold (26.2) was also third in the 200.


Darevin Curlee (19.1) and Colbrin Nolan (20.5) went 1-2 in the 110 hurdles. Curlee (46.3) was second in the 300 hurdles with Nolan (48.6) third.


Jacob Palfreyman (100-feet) and Abram Bennett (95-feet, 8-inches) went 1-2 in the discus. Palfreyman (40-feet, 7-inches) won the shot put with teammate Conner Wickizer (35-feet, 6 1/2-inches) second. 


Bennett (125-feet, 6-inches) won the javelin as Hunsinger (110-feet) was third.


Justin Hiduk (2:07) won the 800 and took second in the 1600 (4:43), just two seconds behind Williamson freshman Owen Cummings (4:41).


The Wyalusing 4x800 relay of Hiduk, Thomas Oliver, Josh Stoddard and Clayton Petlock won in 11:10, with their 4x100 relay of Arnold, Anthony Rohan, Oswald and Joey Gonsauls winning in 48.9.


The Rams will host Troy next Tuesday.
