NTL BOYS' SOCCER: NEB'S STANTON THE BC PLAYER OF THE YEAR (December 2, 2025)
Northern Tier Sports ReportAthens and NEB had strong boys’ soccer seasons this year propelled by some standout players on the pitch.
Leading the way was Panther Eli Stanton, whose defense, leadership, and all-around stand out play helped lead NEB to a 13-5 record as a center back. NEB allowed just 1.3 goals per game despite playing a high line, while Stanton was dangerous when unleashed on offense, earning him the Bradford County Boys’ Soccer All-star Player of the Year honors.
Joining him for a major award is teammate Tyler Kuhn. Kuhn had 28 goals - more than some teams - and 12 assists on the year as he took control the NEB offense, earning him the Offensive Player of the Year honors.
For the Wildcats they allowed just seven goals during the regular season, and one to an NTL team as they claimed the league title. They went 10-5-2 overall on the season with 11 shutouts - including two 0-0 ties - led by the Defensive Player of the Year Alex Thompson and Goalkeeper of the Year Zack Fischer.
First year coach Travis Reynard is the Coach of the Year, while Chase Gombocz is the Newcomer of the Year to round out the Athens major award winners.
For NEB Dan Barrett’s versatility all across the field earns him the Utility Player of the Year honors.
The first team consists of NEB’s Stanton, Barrett, Kuhn, Anthony Pousen, Dayton Russell, and Gavin Puza, along with Athens’ Thompson, Gombocz, Fischer, Brycen Wood, and Patrick Umbert.
Towanda’s Brayden Spencer and Troy’s Timothy Hornung are the other first team members.
On the second team are Athens’ Elli Vogel, Rory Smart, Alex Arcesi, and Aryan Gaur, NEB’s Ben Ellis and Landon Knowles, Towanda’s Blaiz Nichols, Ben Shrawder, Mason Harbst, Josh Maye, and Hudson Stevens, and Troy’s Gavin Lykon-Leffler, Landon Jenkins, and Landon Lee.
