SULLIVAN COUNTY BOYS' HOOPS UPBEAT WITH A VETERAN SQUAD (December 5, 2025)
Northern Tier Sports ReportThe Sullivan County boys’ basketball team will be looking to pick up where last’s year team left off.
The Griffins made the district semifinals but just missed a state qualifying berth last season as they return all five starters this year.
“We had some pretty good stretches last year,” Vaughan said about his 2024-2025 squad.
Colin King, Tucker Blasi, Lucas King, Cayden Smithkors, and Ryan Murray are the five returning starters, while Jaiden Moore and Dominic Marotti also saw plenty of playing time.
Colin King will be the one to watch as the returning floor general.
“(He) is the team’s returning MVP,” Vaughan said. “He provided good point guard play. Lucas King is our returning leading scorer, and a tough defender. Tucker Blasi had big game experience, and is one of the best on-ball defenders in our area. Cayden Smithkors combines size and skill, and could make a big impact this season.”
They’ll be looking to takedown defending district champions Northwest in their division.
“There are a few teams in our league that will be tough to beat,” Vaughan said. “Northwest is the team to beat in our division until someone knocks them off, and the west division had nice balance with a few really good teams competing for our league’s championship.”
