NTL GIRLS' WRESTLING: KOLESAR CLAIMS TITLE, FOUR PANTHERS REACH PODIUM AT JARVIS TOURNAMENT (December 6, 2025)

Northern Tier Sports Report
ATHENS — NEB girls’ wrestlers finished sixth at the Jarvis Memorial Tournament Saturday, led by Anaiah Kolesar’s title at 130 pounds.

Mackenzie Clark (136) took home silver, Riley Lamson (148) brought home bronze, and Dariela Reyes-Ramirez (118) finished fourth.

“I think they did very well,” said NEB coach Curt Cole. “We brought four girls, and we were sixth, so I think they did pretty good.”

Kolesar had three falls and a tech fall to go 4-0 in pool wrestling. In the title match she won 13-4 over Benton’s Callie Hess.

“She had a really quality opponent in the finals,” Cole said. “I only got to see the first period because I had to run to the next match, but she did real well. That’s a pretty good, quality opponent - she’s right on track.”

For the senior it was about making the most of the moment.

“This is my last, first high school match, so it feels great to get out here on the mat with my team,” she said.

Kolesar didn’t give up a takedown all day in her title defense.

“I was always told that the best defense is offense, so I stay on offense to secure defense,” she said. “If you’re shooting, they can’t shoot on you.”

Clark went 2-1 in pool wrestling, with both wins by fall, to advance to the semifinals. There she got a win by no contest, then lost by fall to Athens’ Hannah Rathbun - the wrestler she lost to in the tournament.

Lamson went 3-2 on the day to take third with all three wins by fall.

“She’s come a long way,” Cole said about Lamson. “She’s our pinner this year, apparently, because all of the matches she won she won by pin.”

This was a big improvement for Lamson.

“I only got one (win) last year,” she said. “I can’t really believe it.”

Reyes-Ramirez went 3-1 in the pool wrestling action, with all three wins coming on first period falls. She would go on to lose the third place match to finish 3-2 on the day.
