Northern Tier Sports ReportA very busy day for the mid-week with plenty of hoops and wrestling around the area.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALLWyalusing (0-1) at Canton (2-0), 7:30 p.m.: The first big league match-up of the season between two teams that made the playoffs a year ago. Wyalusing is coming off a tough loss to Shamokin while Canton took home the NPL tournament title.
Wellsboro (0-2) at NEB (1-0), 7:30 p.m.: The third straight road contest for the Hornets who come in with losses to Addison and South Williamsport. NEB topped Blue Ridge to open their season.
Troy (0-1) at CV (0-1), 7:30 p.m.: The long road trips continue for Troy as they head to Westfield to start NTL play. They’re coming off a loss to Central Columbia, while CV dropped their opener to Northern Potter.
Towanda (0-1) at Sayre (0-2), 7:30 p.m.: The Knights head north to take a on Sayre squad that has losses to Newfield and Sullivan County. Towanda opened up the season with a loss to Loyalsock.
WRESTLINGTowanda at Horseheads (4-3), 7 p.m.: The Knights open the season on the road against a Horseheads squad that’s been busy early this season. Towanda’s won the match-up the last two years.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
CV (0-1) at Troy (1-1), 7:30 p.m.: The Trojans will be looking to bounce back from their loss against Sullivan County. CV is coming off a 10 point loss to NoPo.
