THE WEEK AHEAD: A BUSY WEEK THAT FEATURES BIG LEAGUE MATCH-UPS ON THE MAT, AND THE COURT (December 14, 2025)

Northern Tier Sports Report
The busiest week so far this winter with a slew of games every day this week. Milestones will be celebrated to start the week while NTL action heats up both on the mat and on the court.

WRESTLING
Monday, December 15

Wellsboro (0-7) at Towanda (4-3), 7 p.m.: A night of festivities planned as the Knights celebrate the 70th anniversary of their program’s founding. They will also induct this year’s Hall of Fame Class. On the mat the Black Knights went .500 at their tournament over the weekend, while the Hornets aren’t 0-6 at the Spartan Duals.

Tuesday, December 16
NEB (8-0) at Wyalusing (6-3), 7 p.m.: A marquee match-up as the upstart Panthers get their toughest test of the season. Both come in with momentum, as NEB won the Spartan Duals title, while the Rams defeated Athens last Friday.

Troy (1-1) at Williamson (1-0), 7 p.m.: The Trojans hit the road as they take on a Warriors team that is coming off a win over Athens last week.

Canton (0-0) at NP-Liberty (0-8), 7 p.m.: Canton’s season opener as they head over the mountain to take on a Mounties squad that features some tough lightweights.

Wednesday, December 17
Williamson (1-0) at Canton (0-0), 7 p.m.: Back to back matches for Canton to start the season they open the season at home against a tough Williamson squad.

Towanda (4-3) at Montoursville (0-1), 7 p.m.:
The Knights get the defending District IV Duals champions, who are coming off a 33-32 loss to Selinsgrove in their season opener last week.

Friday, December 19

Canton, Troy at Panther Holiday Tournament: The first day of the tournament, which features talented wrestlers from across Pennsylvania.

Saturday, December 20
Williamson (1-0) at Towanda (4-3), noon: The Knights end the week with a tough test in Williamson, the only other NTL team to make it to Milton last year in District IV Duals. 

Canton, Troy at Panther Holiday Tournament: The tournament wraps up as it ends a busy week for both squads.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Monday, December 15
Canton (2-1) at Meadowbrook Christian (0-3), 5:30 p.m.: The Warriors hit the road to take on a Meadowbrook team that has loss to Lourdes (52-15), Muncy (41-10), and Benton (46-35).

Hughesville (2-1) at Wyalusing (1-1), 7:30 p.m.: The Rams are riding high after last week’s win over NEB, but now face district power Hughesville. The Spartans coming with wins against Schuylkill Haven (69-34) and Lewisburg (58-30).

Wednesday, December 17
Troy (2-1) at NEB (1-1), 7:30 p.m.: A match-up of last year’s two divisional champions. Troy is coming off a win over Canton, while NEB is looking to bounce back after a loss at Wyalusing.

Towanda (2-1) at NP-Liberty (1-2), 7:30 p.m.: The Black Knights hit the road for another NTL cross-over game after beating Sayre and Williamson. NPL is coming off a tough loss to Athens.

Wyalusing (1-1) at Sayre (0-4), 7:30 p.m.: The Rams head to the valley to take on a Sayre team that’s searching for their first win. They recently lost to Wellsboro 42-25.

Friday, December 19
Wyalusing (1-1) at Troy (2-1), 7:30 p.m.: The third game in five days for the Rams as they head out to the Commons Building for a big Large School tilt. The two teams split last year’s series.

Athens (1-3) at Towanda (2-1), 7:30 p.m.: The Wildcats got their first win of the season after an 0-3 start, beating NPL in a close game. The Knights will look to stay undefeated in the league.

CV (0-3) at Canton (2-1), 7:30 p.m.: The Warriors host CV for their first divisional game. Both teams are coming off cross-over losses, Canton to Troy, and CV against NP-Mansfield.

NP-Liberty (1-2) at NEB (1-1), 7:30 p.m.: The Panthers end the week by hosting NPL as they look to defend their Small School title. 

BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Tuesday, December 16

Troy (2-1) at Canton (0-4), 7:30 p.m.: The Trojans will be looking to pick-up another divisional win after beating CV. Canton is still searching for their first win of the season after a loss at Wyalusing last week.

Towanda (4-0) at Williamson (1-3), 7:30 p.m.: The Knights are riding high after winning the Muncy Tournament title for the second straight year. Williamson is coming off a loss to Northern Potter at the end of last week.

Wyalusing (2-2) at NEB (5-0), 7:30 p.m.:
Both teams come in with momentum as the Rams boast two big wins last week. NEB held on to beat Montrose to keep their record undefeated.

Thursday, December 18
NEB (5-0) at Troy (2-1), 7:30 p.m.: The Panthers head to the Commons Building for a big early season tilt. NEB has beaten Wellsboro in cross-over play already while Troy has a win over CV.

NP-Liberty (1-1) at Towanda (4-0), 7:30 p.m.: The Knights return home to host the Mounties for another crossover contest. NPL fell to NEB in the Montgomery Tournament title game to start the season.

Canton (0-4) at NP-Mansfield (1-1), 7:30 p.m.: NPM opened with a win over Neumann (61-47) but then lost to Loyalsock (64-34) as Canton hits the road.

Sayre (0-4) at Wyalusing (2-2), 7:30 p.m.:
The Rams stay home as they take on the Redskins for a key cross-over game while Sayre recently lost to Blue Ridge 74-43.

Saturday, December 20
NEB (5-0) at Elk Lake, noon: The Panthers hit the road to take on a tough District II opponent in the Warriors. Elk Lake has a win over Wyalusing already this season.

SWIMMING & DIVING
Towanda, Wellsboro at Athens, 4:30 p.m.: The Knights hit the pool again as they take on fellow NTL squads. The boys went 2-0 in their first tri-meet of the season.

GIRLS’ WRESTLING
Monday, December 15

Wellsboro (0-0) at Towanda (0-0), 6 p.m.: The first dual meet in program history for the Knights as they host Wellsboro before the boys’ match. The Knights are coming off a strong showing at the Queen of the Hive Tournament.

Saturday, December 20
NEB, Towanda at Hanover Tournament: The third straight weekend of wrestling for the Lady Panthers while Towanda returns to the mat for the second straight weekend.
