COLLEGE: TOWANDA GRAD HIGLEY GOES 4-2 AT KENT STATE OPEN (December 20, 2025)

Another day for our local college wrestlers. In action today is Sullivan County’s Colton Wade (Clarion) and Towanda’s Mason Higley (Kent State) wrestling at the Kent State Open. 
    
Towanda’s Mason Higley started his day off in the round of 16 against Andrew Liber of Bellarmine. After a full 7:00 minutes, Higley lost by a decision 8-1 and dropped to the consolation rounds. In consolation round 16 #2, Higley faced Alexander Berisha of West Virginia. After another full 7:00 minutes, Higley comes out with a 6-0 decision win to move on. In the consolation round of 8 #1, Higley squared off against Kendrick Curtis of Tennessee-Chattanooga. Higley once again takes the win by decision 8-6 to continue his march on the bottom portion of the bracket. In the consolation round 8 #2, Higley now faced Nick Lodado of Edinboro University, where he would not need the full seven minutes, as Higley won by fall in 3:38. In the consolation of 4, Higley up against Cole Tolley of West Virginia, where he would win by technical fall 17-1 in 4:10. Higley squared off against Thad Huff of Bellarmine for fifth place. In the fifth place, Higley dropped his match by a 7-3 decision to Thadd Huff of Bellarmine to finish in 6th place. Higley ends his day 4-2.
    
Sullivan County’s Colton Wade started his day off in the round of 16 versus Benjamin Fuller of Edinboro University. Wade earns the 5-3 decision win to move on. In the quarterfinals, Wade faced Gage Walker of Unattached, where he lost by fall in 1:57, dropping him to the consolation bracket. In the consolation round 8 #2, Wade squared off against Aiden Beimel Clarion. Wade with the major decision wins 8-0 to move on. In the consolation round of 4, Wade faced Bryce Luna of Tennessee Chattanooga, where he would drop by technical fall 21-5 in 7:00 to end his day. Wade’s day concluded with a 2-2 record.
