AOW: TOWANDA'S SLUYTER AND BENJAMIN, TROY'S RENZO FINISH LAST WEEK WITH A BANG (December 21, 2025)

Northern Tier Sports Report
It was quite a week, and one that ended in a bang as basketball teams began divisional play, while wrestling squads dug deeper into NTL action while also hitting the tournament circuit.

For the boys’ Towanda’s Reese Sluyter kept their team undefeated in NTL action - along with likely their hopes of defending their league title - thanks to a takedown in the final minute of his match to get a major decision. That win essentially clinched the match, which ended up tied, earning him the Male Athlete of the Week honors.

On the girls’ side Troy’s Kyah Renzo averaged 12.7 points per game this week as the Trojans went 3-0. Her 20 points in their win over Wyalusing to open division play kept them undefeated in the NTL, while she followed that up with 13 points in a win over Jersey Shore the following afternoon.

For Towanda Ily Benjamin earned her first tournament medal this past weekend, taking second at the Hawkeye Classic as she went 3-1 on the day.

The two are the Female Co-Athletes of the Week.
