NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: TOWANDA USES BIG THIRD QUARTER TO TOP ELK LAKE (December 22, 2025)

TOWANDA — Towanda shook off an early deficit to beat Elk Lake, 53-44, for their fifth straight win during non-league girls’ hoops action Monday.

The Warriors led 17-15 after one, but a 12-7 second quarter in favor of Towanda put them up 27-24 at the half.

The Knights used an 18-point third quarter to extend their lead, then held off a fourth quarter charge from Elk Lake.

Brynn Woodruff had 17 points, eight boards, and two blocks to lead Towanda as Payton Perry, and Mya Maynard scored nine points each. They each also had four steals, with Maynard nabbing three boards.

Maris Cobb, and Reese Sullivan had six points apiece, with Cobb grabbing four boards, and Sullivan adding two steals.

Karis Flynn had five points, and two steals, with Taylor Aquilio getting one point. Mary-Kate Eberlin chipped in with five boards, and four assists.

Madison Casselbury and Kylie Shingler each had 12 points to lead Elk Lake.

Shingler had seven points to help Elk Lake to their opening quarter lead while Woodruff and Maynard had five points each to lead the Knights.

Cobb scored all six of her points in the second quarter to help Towanda take the 3-point lead into the locker rooms.

In the third the Knights got five points from Woodruff, and Sullivan, as they built a 45-32 lead going into the fourth.

In the final frame Elk Lake rallied with five made buckets, but it wasn’t enough as Towanda went 4-for-6 from the line to help them ice the game.

Towanda won the JV game 52-12 as Aquilio had 19 points, Cobb netted 13, and Sullivan scored 11.

Towanda (5-1) will take on Ithaca at the Josh Palmer Tournament at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
