NTL GIRLS' WRESTLING: TOWANDA PULLS PAST CENTRAL COLUMBIA (December 23, 2025)

Northern Tier Sports Report
TOWANDA — The Towanda used four straight wins in the upper weights to top Central Columbia, 42-36, during non-league dual meet action Tuesday.

Kaylee Johnson (100), Kendal Cook (148), and Adelee Wecker (170) all had forfeits as Kaylen Sluyter (118), Kenzie Brown (130), Ily Benjamin (142), and Elizabeth Naughton (155) all scored falls.

Quinn Watson (106), Kiley Vinson (124), and Salat Shannon (136) each had falls for Central while M. Reichard (190), and A. Edgar (235) both scored forfeits.

“Being here at home you always like to get a win,” said Towanda coach Brock Nichols. “We would have liked to win a couple more of those matches that we dropped, but it is what it is. I thought the girls wrestled hard. Like I said before, that’s the only thing I really ask of the girls, is to go out there, and give me everything you’ve got - whatever happens, happens.”

Kaylee Johnson got Towanda off on the right foot with a forfeit, but Watson pinned Hailey Harbst in 3:02 to tie the match up at 6-all.

Hutchinson then got a fall over Natalyn Morris in 1:35 to put the Blue Jays up 12-6.

Sluyter would pin Madalyn Swank in 2:21 to tie things up, but Vinson’s fall over Kylie Johnson in 1:24 saw Central retake the lead.

Brown rallied from an early deficit to pin J. Zoppetti in 1:26, which seemed to be a momentum booster for the Knights.

“I kind of told her we needed a good match out of her,” Nichols said. “We needed to try to get stuff rolling back in our way. She’s a battler, she’s somebody whose going to give you everything you got everything single time she steps out on the mat. She’s still a young wrestler, it’s only her second year, so mistakes happen, but I think in that first period a little bit of mistakes happened, and then she corrected it there.”

Shannon pinned Lia Fischer in 3:18, then came Towanda’s four straight wins to seal up the match.

Benjamin pinned Thereah Ha in 56 seconds, followed by Cook’s forfeit.

Naughton would pin Ellie Klingerman in 1:43, then Wecker got the forfeit win to seal the deal.

Towanda (2-0) will take a break until the Matness at the MACC on January 3.
