NTL WRESTLING: TOWANDA'S MIDDLE WEIGHTS PIN THEIR WAY PAST CENTRAL COLUMBIA (December 23, 2025)

Northern Tier Sports Report
TOWANDA — The middle of Towanda’s line-up rolled through Central Columbia as the Knights used seven pins to beat the Blue Jays, 48-27, during non-league wrestling action Tuesday.

The win gave Towanda coach Bill Sexton win 768 to become the all-time winningest coach in PA wrestling for dual meets.

Before the match the Knights also added four new names to their Knights of the 100 board - Rylee Sluyter, Sawyer Robinson, Mason Higley, and Riley Vanderpool.

On the mat Mason Harbst (107), Bryghton Yale (133), Tanner Vanderpool (139), Gage Evans (152), Reese Sluyter (160), and Kolton McPeak (172) all had falls as Hagen Jones (145) scored a forfeit.

For Central Gavin Larsen (189), Noah Musselman (215), and Clayton Whiteknight (285) had falls as Jace Jamison (114) scored a forfeit. Colt Carmean (121) earned a major decision.

“I told them we need to get in a position where our guys from 133 to 172 can take control, and win the match for us,” Towanda coach Bill Sexton said. “I think Mason Harbst did a great job of stepping out and doing that. Harbst is a veteran guy, too, but he’s separated from them by a couple of our younger guys. Then we got a big match out of Stranger at 127 again, and then once we got to Yale we just got the roll going. Those guys did a really good job for us.”

Harbst got the ball rolling with a first period fall over Kyle Curland in 1:24, but a forfeit to Jamison, then Carmean pulling away for a 13-3 win over Towanda’s Colin Parker saw the Blue Jays take a 10-6 lead.

After that, though, it was all Knights as Stranger pinned Joseph Bankes in 1:19.

Yale got a fall over Cole Horrax in 19 seconds, Tanner Vanderpool pinned Garrett Panco in 49 seconds, and then came Jones’ forfeit.

Evans picked things up with a fall over Tanner Regan in 34 seconds, followed by Sluyter’s pin over Josiah Hosier in 3:11.

McPeak ended the run with his fall over Logan Miller in 1:45.

Central finished the match strong as Larsen pinned Dillan Sbragia in 3:49, Musselman got the fall over Finn Brennan in 5:41, and Whitenight pinned Dominik Miller in 1:07.

Towanda will return to action at Windsor this coming weekend, then back to the dual meets for the new year.

“I’d like to do better in the upcoming Flynn Duals,” said Sexton. “We went 3-3 at the Dandy Duals, we’d like to improve upon that. We’re realistic about what kind of team we have. We’ve got some good teams coming in, but we want to be competitive with everybody, and we want to see if we can push on. The other night we got our 950th so we’re starting to tack down to 1000 wins which I think is going to be a big accomplishment. Let’s see how fast we can get there.”
