The Lehigh Mountain Hawks made the holiday trip to Country Music City USA as they headed to Nashville, Tennessee to take on two top ten opponents. Taking part in the Journeymen’s Collegiate Duals, Lehigh was set to take on number 3 Iowa State out of the Big 12 and number 10 Illinois out of the Big Ten.

Lehigh opened competition against Illinois which they faced off against about a month ago in the national duals held in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Illinois had Lehigh’s number in the first dual. With the dual set to start at 125 which meant a rematch for Troy graduate Sheldon Seymour number 4 ranked by Flo wrestling and 5 by intermat wrestling as he would be taking on Spencer Moore ranked 15 by Flo wrestling 20 by intermat wrestling. Off from a tie, Seymour goes low to the ankle and works his way towards the first period takedown and ride out to take the 3-0 lead. In the second, Seymour starts in the top position and yields the escape. Seymour, using quickness off another tie up to get the cross ankle for his second takedown to push the lead to 6-1. Giving up another escape to end the second period to make the score 6-2. Seymour goes down to start the third. Having trouble building up and escaping, Seymour gets rode out in the third.  Giving up stall point and ride time point the final score is a 6-4 decision for Seymour to put Lehigh up 3-0. However, Illinois took the next seven bout to take over the lead and not look back. The final score 24-12 in favor of Illinois.

In the next dual, Lehigh faced number 3 ranked Iowa State. Again, this dual brings lots of fire power and ranked wrestlers from both teams. The dual starting again at 125, means that Seymour takes on Stevo Poulin number 12 ranked by flo wrestling and 13 by intermat and a returning all American from 2024 season. These two have met before in 2022 at the Binghamton Open with Poulin taking the match in a close decision. Poulin gets the initial takedown with Seymour getting the escape to end the first period 3-1.  Seymour deferred his choice to the third. The second period ended with a 5-4 lead for Poulin off a couple escapes between a takedown from Seymour. Seymour with the choice in the third and takes down. After an escape to tie the score at 5 and coming up a minute left to go in the match, Poulin with a shot attempt stuffed and pancaked by Seymour to take the lead 8-5. After a couple stall calls on Seymour and adding in the ride time the final score was a 9-6 decision win for Seymour to kick start the Mountain Hawks. The two teams would battle it out but in the end the Cyclones of Iowa State proved to be too much as they took the dual win 26-11.

The Mountain Hawks end their road trip 0-2 against the two top ten teams. Time for the team to get some rest and recovery as the team will be back in action January 10 and 11 as they host rival Cornell and EIWA conference foe American.
