NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: ROUPP'S BIG FOURTH LEADS CANTON PAST SULLIVAN COUNTY (December 29, 2025)

CANTON  — Lydia Roupp had a career best 14 points in the fourth quarter as Canton nipped Sullivan County, 49-47, during the opening round of their Christmas Hoops Tournament Monday.

Roupp scored all of her points in the final frame, while Alexis McRoberts nearly had a double-double of 13 points, and eight boards, to go with four steals.

Canton found themselves down 14-12 at the half, with the Griffins extending their lead to three going into the fourth quarter.

In the final frame Roupp and Cailyn Van Noy combined for 19 points to lead the Warriors to the win.

Van Noy finished with nine points, four assists, and two steals, as Stella Rockwell added 11 points, and four steals.

Danah Wesneski had two points, and three assists, while Daveian Crowley chipped in with four boards, and two blocks.

Eva Fresno had 22 points to lead Sullivan as Ansley Baldwin scored 10. Lily McCarty netted six, Bethany Eberlin notched five, and Alana Olson scored four.

A Van Noy 3-ball, and a Rockwell jumper gave Canton a 5-4 lead after one, however, Fresno scored seven of her team’s 10 second quarter points to help them take the 2-point lead into the locker room.

In the third the two offenses got flowing as they combined for 37 points. Fresno scored seven, and Olson had five to lead Sullivan, while McRoberts had 11 of her points in the frame.

For the fourth quarter Van Noy had five to go Roupp’s 14 as they held the Griffins to 14 points themselves to get the win.

Canton will face NP-Liberty in the title game on Tuesday with a 7:30 p.m. start.
