SULLIVAN COUNTY ROUTS BENTON (January 3, 2026)
Northern Tier Sports ReportLAPORTE — Sullivan County broke their 2-game losing streak with a 68-34 win over Benton during Mid-Penn boys’ basketball action Saturday.
The Griffins used a 23-7 second quarter run to take control of the game, and never yielded it.
Cayden Smithkors had 21 points, and eight boards to lead Sullivan, as Tucker Blasi added 14 points, six rebounds, and four steals.
Colin King finished with 12 points, eight rebounds, and four assists, as Lucas King had eight points, including two 3-balls.
Ryan Murray netted six points, and seven boards, with Kameron Brown, Liam Busch, and Jaiden Moore scoring two points each. Moore also had six boards.
Calen Sweigart rounded out the scorers with one point.
Dalton Koch had 15 points to lead Benton.
The game was 12-6 in Sullivan’s favor after one as Smithkors opened with six points.
Then came the big quarter as Smithkors scored seven, Colin King had six, and Lucas King netted five to put the Griffins up 35-13 at the half.
Benton hit three 3-balls in the third quarter to try to stay alive, but a 16-7 fourth quarter in Sullivan’s favor gave them the win.
Sullivan won the JV game 54-8 behind 10 from Brown.
Sullivan County (7-2) will host Sayre on Monday.
