NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: NEB PULLS AWAY FROM PESKY WELLSBORO (January 5, 2026)
Northern Tier Sports ReportROME — Three different NEB players hit double figures as the Panthers pulled away from Wellsboro, 47-34, during NTL girls’ hoops action Monday.
NEB led by 10 after the first quarter but the Hornets fought back, cutting it to a 5-point deficit going into the final frame.
In the fourth NEB racked up 14 points to nab the win.
Leah Beebe had 19 points - including four 3-balls - to go with three assists, and five steals to lead the Panthers, as Katrina Russell had 10 points, and two steals.
Kara Dughi also had 10 points to go with five boards, and two steals, while Mallorie Maynard notched four points, 12 boards and two steals.
Aurelia Kolesar nearly had an unusual triple-double with 10 boards, eight steals, and six assists, while scoring three points.
Karmyn McPherson rounded out NEB’s scorers with one point.
Beebe set the tone in the first quarter, scoring eight of her team’s 12 points.
Wellsboro out scored them 12-7 in the second for a 19-14 game at the half.
The teams were evenly matched in the third, netting 14 points apiece, as Beebe, and Dughi each had four points for the Panthers.
In the final frame NEB held Wellsboro to just six points as Beebe hit two 3-balls.
NEB (4-2) travels to Canton on Wednesday for a big NTL Small School tilt.
