NTL BOYS' BASKETBALL: BROWN'S BIG NIGHT LEADS NEB PAST CANTON (January 6, 2026)
Northern Tier Sports ReportROME — Cooper Brown netted 34 points to lead NEB past Canton, 83-25, during NTL boys’ basketball action Tuesday.
The Panthers led 32-6 after the first quarter and never looked back.
Brown went 15-for-24 on the night with two steals, as Dayton Russell had 11 points, five boards, four assists, and two steals.
Nate Gross hit double figures with 10 points, while Clay Wilks notched six points, and grabbed nine boards.
Mac Burgert finished with six points, and three steals, as Daniel Barrett had five points, seven assists, and three steals.
Anthony Johnson added four points, as Eli Stanton had two points, five assists, and two steals. Brody Allen chipped in with two points, and three boards, while Landon Knolles rounded out the scorers with three.
Monte Whitehead led Canton with 13 points, as Ryder Route finished with six. Teyton Thompson, and Kix Carr both added three.
In the opening frame Brown went off for 18 of his team’s 32 points. NEB added 23 more points in the second to take a 55-14 lead into the locker rooms.
Brown scored eight more points in the second.
It was a closer second half, with NEB out scoring Canton 28-11. Brown had eight in the second half, all in the third quarter, while Whitehead led the Warriors with four points.
NEB won the JV game 56-8 behind 21 points from Gross. Diesel Route had eight to lead Canton.
Canton (0-8) welcomes NP-Liberty on Thursday, while NEB (8-2) will travel to Sayre.
