NTL SWIMMING & DIVING: TOWANDA FALLS TO ATHENS BOYS, GIRLS (January 8, 2026)
Northern Tier Sports ReportATHENS — Towanda dropped a pair of dual meets to powerhouse Athens in swimming and diving action Thursday.
The boys lost 102-64, while the girls fell 115-6.
On the boys’ side the 200 medley relay of Shane Maghamez, Andrew Manley, Nolan Deacon, and Nick Post took second in 2:09.01, while the foursome of Curtis Carter, Matthew Weinman, Kellen Colton, and Travyn Lewis was third in 2:22.18.
Kenneth Carle (2:15.93) won the 200 free, as Xander Pratt (2:38.53), and Brayden Mattison (3:14.70) were third, and fourth.
Deacon (25.33) was second in the 50 free followed by teammates Brennick Lain (25.46), and Maghamez (26.41) in third, and fourth.
Lain won the diving with a score of 148.10, with Colton (1:19.41) third in the 100 fly.
Carle (1:00.06) was third in the 100 free, followed by teammates Lake Strickland (1:01.23), and Post (1:10.74) in fourth, and fifth.
Pratt (7:29.54) was third in the 500 free, followed by teammates Cooper Chamberlain (8:03.48), and Nathan Little (9:11.87).
Towanda’s team of Colton, Maghamez, Deacon, and Lain was second in the 200 free relay at 1:45.91.
The foursome of Carle, Manley, Mattison, and Carter took fourth in 2:03.70.
The team of Strickland, Lewis, Little, and Pratt were fifth in 2:10.34.
Deacon (1:12.23) was second in the 100 backstroke, with Maghamez (1:12.65) in third, and Carter (1:26.21) taking fifth.
Manley (1:26.29) was fourth in the 100 breaststroke, followed by Weinman (1:33.75), and Lewis (2:00.14).
In the 400 free relay Towanda’s team of Carle, Lain, Little, and Post took third in 4:27.59.
The team of Strickland, Chamberlain, Weinman, and Mattison was fourth in 5:04.46.
On the girls’ side Reagan Deacon (33.46) was third in the 50 free, and also took bronze in the 100 breaststroke (1:35.31).
In exhibition action NEB’s Eliana Mihalek swam 1:47.73 in the 100 breaststroke, and 1:25.15 in the 100 free.
