NTL BOYS' BASKETBALL: TROY COMES UP SHORT AT ATHENS (January 8, 2025)

Troy fell at Athens, 61-50, during NTL boys’ basketball action Thursday.

It was tight after one with the Wildcats leading 14-13, but a 15-9 second quarter in Athens’ favor put them up 29-22 at the half.

They extended the lead to 41-32 going into the fourth. 

The offenses opened up at the end, with Troy netting 18 points, but the Wildcats scored 20 themselves to pull out the win.

Spencer Martin had 20 points, and six assists for the Trojans, as Trey Teribury added 13 points, and nine boards.

Cameron Morey, and Evan Allen scored six points each, as Morey also nabbed six boards. Landon Cole chipped in with five points, while James Roy grabbed four rebounds.

Eli Hobday led four Wildcats in double figures with 17 points.

Troy started out hot, hitting three 3-balls in the first quarter, as Martin led them with six points, but they still found themselves down one.

Athens returned the favor, hitting three 3-pointers in the second as they took the seven point lead into the locker rooms.

Morey had six points to lead Troy in the quarter.

Allen had four points for the Trojans in the third, wile Trey hit his third 3-ball of the game, but Nick Grazul had five, and James Friend four for Athens as they extended their lead.

Martin went off for nine points in the fourth to help Troy rally, but Lucas Shultz had six for Athens, with Hobday going 5-for-6 from the line as the Wildcats secured the win.

Troy (5-5) is at Wyalusing on Saturday with a 1:30 p.m. start.
