NTL BOYS' BASKETBALL: TERIBURY NETS 36 BUT TROY FALLS TO WELLSBORO (January 13, 2026)
Northern Tier Sports ReportTROY — In a back and forth contest it was Wellsboro who struck last, edging Troy, 68-63, during NTL boys’ hoops action Tuesday.
The Hornets survived a 36 point effort from Trey Teribury - who also had four boards, and three blocks - as they out scored the Trojans 18-9 in the fourth to rally for the win.
Wellsboro led 21-10 after one, but Troy responded with a 24 point second quarter to make it a 39-34 game at the half.
The Trojans out scored the Hornets 20-11 in the third to take a 4-point lead into the final frame before falling late.
“That’s probably the worst quarter we’ve played all year, that first quarter,” Troy coach Craig Sheeley said. “I’m really proud of the way we responded after that, because we could have pulled it up, and ended it for the night, but we fought really, real hard the last three quarters. And Wellsboro, they fought back to after took the lead, they never gave up either. It was a good game, obviously we wish we would have started a lot different, maybe it would have been a different outcome.”
Cameron Morey had eight points, 10 boards, and two blocks for Troy, as Pryor Teribury, and Spencer Martin both scored five. Pryor notched two steals, as Martin had six assists, and five steals.
Evan Allen netted four, Josiah Pesesky added three, with five boards, and three blocks before fouling out, with James Roy scoring two to round things out.
Colin Fletcher had 24 to lead Wellsboro while Luke Rothermel netted 21.
Fletcher hit three 3-balls en route to 11 points for the Hornets’ big first quarter as they took an 11-point lead.
After scoring just two points in the first Trey went off for 14 in the second frame as the Trojans cut it to a 5-point game at the half.
Trey hit three of Troy’s four 3-balls in the third en route to 11 points as the Trojans took the 54-50 lead into the fourth.
In the final frame they went cold again, as Trey scored seven of the team’s nine points, while Rothermel went off for six to give the Hornets the win.
Troy (6-6) will host NP-Mansfield on Thursday.
