NTL WRESTLING: CANTON USES EARLY RUN TO SEAL UP WIN OVER SULLIVAN COUNTY (January 14, 2026)
Northern Tier Sports ReportLAPORTE — Canton built a big lead en route to their 40-30 win over Sullivan County during non-league wrestling action Wednesday.
The Warriors won seven of the first eight matches to go up 34-6, then clinched it with a Levi Vermilya (107) fall when they came around the horn.
Vermilya, Tommy Preston (152), Carson Rockwell (160), Blane Wesneski (172), Trapper Burr (189), and Leland Pepper (215) all had falls for the Warriors, with Gavin Sharp (145) scoring an 11-0 major decision.
Wyatt Bagley (139), Luca Zelewicz (114), and Jason Copp (127) all had falls for Sullivan, as Carter Reis (285), and Andrew Kapec (133) each had a forfeit.
Bagley gave the Griffins a lead early with his pin on Owen Moore in 59 seconds at 139 pounds.
Canton won the next seven weights, beginning with Sharp scoring an 11-0 major over Chase Preston.
Preston, Rockwell, Wesneski, Burr, and Pepper all followed with first period falls.
Reis’ forfeit ended the run, cutting it to 34-12, but Vermilya’s 34 second fall over Maverick Pennella secured the win for Canton.
Canton (6-7) keeps up the busy schedule as they travel to NEB on Friday.
