COLLEGE: TROY'S SEYMOUR EARNS CLOSE WIN AGAINST PRINCETON (January 19, 2026)
BY BRYAN SEYMOURNorthern Tier Sports ReportLehigh Wrestling traveled to Princeton University to take on the Tigers. With their second match in two days and 4th in seven days. Traveling through the snow from Bethlehem, PA, to New Jersey.
The dual starting at 125 means starting with two ranked wrestlers going at it. Seymour ranked 5 and Marc Anthony McGowan 15th. After an injury taken by McGowan, Seymour would have the choice, and he takes down. An escape puts Seymour up 1-0 to end the first period. Seymour with choice in the second, where he chooses the down position. Another escape to make the score 2-0 through 2 periods. Starting the third period in the neutral position. Nothing is really happening with neither wrestler close to a takedown. With less than 10 seconds left to go in the match, both wrestlers toe the line. However, McGowan appears to secure the late second takedown to win the match. The Lehigh coaches threw the brick to challenge the start and takedown. After the review, the officials overturned the takedown, saying McGowan did a rolling start to get the advantage. With the:07 put back on the clock and a stall warning for McGowan for not coming back to center to start. Then a caution for McGowan on another rolling start. The whistle finally blows, and in the end, Seymour wins the match 2-0.
Not always how you want to win, but a win is a win and putting Lehigh up 3-0. After the end of the dual, Lehigh closed out the dual 30-9 to secure their fourth straight win. Lehigh is off until the end of the month, with classes starting. Next up for Lehigh is Army West Point.
